You wouldn't know what Edmonds would have or would have not done when you were 10.I'd put that well above the Edmonds catch. Edmonds wouldn't have a shot of getting to that ball.
Edmonds had shit for range. It’s common knowledge. The Derek Jeter of centerfieldYou wouldn't know what Edmonds would have or would have not done when you were 10.
Reminded me of this one where Aaron Rowand did hurt himself:When I saw it live, I though he broke his neck.

Yes it did. Andruw Jones would have made that catch slowing to a trot and wouldn’t have even been highlight worthyRange has nothing to do with a spectacular catch.......I dont know what Jimmy E had for range, but his catch is one for the ages.......Range had no impact on that catch.....
Yes it did. Andruw Jones would have made that catch slowing to a trot and wouldn’t have even been highlight worthy
I’ll give him his props. He played to the absolute best of his ability, and that play was the best possible play he could have made within his ability. That doesn’t make him a great defensive player though. It’s like that play where Derek Jeter dove into the stands 10 feet after he caught a foul pop up. Get some range and you won’t need the dramatics. I’m gonna be more impressed by a great play made by Andruw Jones or Torii Hunter because Edmonds wouldn’t get to those balls if it required them to make a great play onTheres always gonna be someone better than the next guy.....You just cant take something away from someone just because they were faster than the next guy or cause they get a better jump.....
If thats the case, just throw out Willie Mays catch then, because Andruw Jones would of been there quicker.....
A spectacular catch is a spectacular catcher whether who would of been there quicker........
Everty spectacular ss play should never be talked of again because you wont find anything better than The Wizard of Oz's play as a Padre.....
Give Jimmy E his props.....

Andruw could have been serving as a 5th infielder and still camped under it like a punt returner calling for a fair catchThen it sounds to me like Jones probably wasn't playing as shallow as he should have in your hypothetical![]()

But Andruw or no CF is making that Mays catch today. That’s a long gone homer in every current stadium
Big spot, do or die game, big moment for sure.Edmonds catch was a defensive gem,but Im not here to say how great of def player he was either....
Im not gonna look up hiswhatever stat that they use for defensive players to make an arguement either....
I just mnow it was a gem.....

Yep. And Yadi is a juiced up piece of shit!Edmonds had shit for range. It’s common knowledge. The Derek Jeter of centerfield
Fair enough.Andruw's range is second to none out there but I think it's almost a universal rule that if your center fielder catches a ball easily at the wall he was either playing too deep or the ball was hit a mile in the air. I think that Andruw would have had to lay out for that ball just the same as the others mentioned because he would have been playing appropriately shallow with his well above average range (as he always did).
This was always the knock on Griffey and why he was seen as good but not great by many, he consistently played too deep and extra singles would drop in.
