I always thought the 1978 and 1979 Alabama teams were their best.
Talent stacked everywhere.
Actually thought 1978 was better with one loss, than 1979 with an undefeated season.
Call me crazy
Who else ??

Apparently they were a baseball powerhouse back then. They beat GT 22-0 in a baseball game that John Heisman also coached which is why Heisman was out for blood in the football game.Powerhouse
Interesting video about that game if you get bored and have timePowerhouse
Goddamn man, have you EVER posted to a thread without writing a fucking book???I'm making my own rules ... my own team, best 4 years ... nah, don't want to hear it.
So many of you guys are so young, and for years you kept going on and on about 1980. I get it, but I don't think you realize how good UGA was 1980-1983 ... we came so close to winning 2 more NCs, but we Georgia'd and just won 1:
1980 - 12-0 NC with a Sugar Bowl win over Notre Dame.
1981 - 10-2 - we were 10-1 with only reg season loss to Clemscum, got beat by Pitt with 35 seconds left when Dan Marino threw for a TD. Clemson wins it even if we had won.
1982 - 11-0, ranked no. 1, lose to Penn State 23-27. Win that, we win the natty.
1983 - 10-1-1 fucking Hershel goes to the USFL, we tie Clemscum, lose a close one late to Auburn, and beat undefeated no. 2 Texas in the Cotton Bowl. We win the natty with Hershel.
Ranked: 1, 6, 4, 4
43-1-3

2011-2012 has my vote for TennesseeI don't think they are the best but two great Tennessee years were 1997/1998 Tennessee.
Although, I think the most talented Tennessee team that I have watched was 2001. They choked against LSU in Atlanta though.
