Not trolling... I never saw it. They have been pretty mediocre in the modern era and there was nothing to indicate that Texas was on the upswing.
 
Because they play in a weak conference and no one had faith in Rattler at QB.

They were top 10 because it makes this moment a whole lot funnier. It's the cycle of life. Texas gets a preseason ranking they don't deserve, they lose to a series of unranked teams and we get some good laughs along the way.

(I would have Oklahoma on the list as well but they lost last week. Even with the loss, I still thought OU would beat Texas this year and this week confirms it).
