It doesn’t work that way, Nick.

You can’t claim any sort of underdog status or say “we had a down year” when you’re Alabama. You just can’t. You already have more luxuries, more advantages, more resources, etc. than ~97% of FBS teams.

Same goes for teams like Clemson, Ohio St., Georgia, etc.
 
His rebuilding year is about to be a rebuilding decade.
 
Pride goeth before a fall. Nick Saban is the best college football coach in history. But let him get his lights punched out a few more times and he'll become a mere mortal again. Will age be a factor? Probably. But more likely it will happen because something (NIL?) allows another team or teams to pull up to his level and the law of averages will cut him back down to size. I'm not hating on the man. But imagine if Saban was only able to win a NC every 7-8 years. People would say he's lost his edge. Now imagine how many coaches would sell their soul to win a NC every 7-8 years. Saban's too old to fight this for very much longer. He's out soon no matter what he accomplishes in the near future.

The "rebuilding" crap is just that, crap.
Alabama just got caught in one of those "other team had a once in a hellava long time team". LSU in 2019 and UGA last year.

And as a Bama fan I will have to say that it wasn’t the best team I’ve seen on the field. Our defense was rather porous. Plus we did not have much of a running game either. So there

I would love to buy what you are selling, but he's proven the doubters wrong over and over. This is a bad look for him, but he has the results on the field to tell us to fuck off. I can't wait until that part of the cycle cycles.
