They will probably keep it for their other games. I have seen that jingo for Army-Navy game and some of their bowl games in the past as well.

Honestly, had no idea there were fans of media networks til today...

As I am reading this, the PAC is the main "fan" of today. ESPN not going in on the B1G means they are more important to ESPN, maybe.

My reaction to networks is:

(1) which one will pay my school the most money.
(2) which ones are the most fan friendly - ESPN all-in on the SEC is a plus for me as a fan for reasons stated in the thread.
(3) which ones drive the best game day environment ... ESPN does that with their Game Day show. Candidly, I have no idea how good Fox's is, but I like ESPN's a lot.
(4) the ones with the best announcers - I like ESPN just fine with Herbie and those guys. Again, don't watch the Fox stuff so can't tell you.

I liked the CBS 3:30 game - we were on it a lot - but I didn't like it that it meant we often didn't know when we were going to play until 5 days before the game.

I'm skeptical of it too. But if it can deliver subscribers, it could absolutely fit their model. I'd get Apple+ or Prime if it meant getting access to all of Oregon's Football and Hoops content. However, a lot of older people probably won't and I wouldn't subscribe to either in order to watch Big 12 content (and I doubt non PAC 10 fans would do it for the PAC).

One thing to remember, a lot of these streaming services are flopping. They don't have content that people want. It appears they think live sports can help that.

I have my entire family together for about 2 weeks before the boys head back to school. I asked everyone what they use YouTube TV for. Mrs. WhosYourDawggy said she didn't, and the three of us boys all said live sports. None of us watch anything else. I'd be so willing to pay $25 a month for streaming ESPN live sports.

With that in mind, thinking of switching to Direct Stream so that I can pick up the Bally channels. Need it for hockey season.

Yes and no. They are all going to wait as long as they can to make sure they get the best matchups at the best times for sure. But ESPN has indicated that they are going to announce a lot of the games for the entire season early on. With CBS being their own entity and having the first pick, there was only so much that ESPN could do. With ABC and ESPN being under Disney, they can set a lot of the season before it starts. CBS at least 2 or 3 times a year would put a hold on about 5 games and then wait until the Monday before the games to make the call. It really sucked to think you were going to have a night game and then get a 12 noon slot.

Long story, long, I went to a UGA Vandy game with my kids in about 2017-ish. An old friend had a son there and I went to his frat house to meet up with him. It was 11am, they had a band, they were all totally fucked up, just hammered. I thought that was weird. So, later that night after the day game I told my kids we should go by my frat house and I could show them what a Saturday night with UGA in town would look like. I was thinking they would have a band, bar, and that it would be cranking. Crickets. I was WTF? A young coed walked by as I was staring at my empty quiet house that would have been raging in my time, and I asked what the heck was going on. She told me that because they don't know when they are going to play, they can't plan night parties with bands, etc. Those have to be booked way in advance and what happens if you book a band to start at 9pm and the game goes to 11pm. In my day, all games for the most part started at 1pm because only a handful were televised nationally. I hope this will enable the kids to be able to plan their parties better.

Noon times have gotten higher viewerships lately.. but as far as fans who are filling up those stadiums.. they hate it. They want to enjoy tailgating and partying before walking into the stadium.. tough to do that at 9 am in the morning.

I'm going to the Bama game in Austin.. I know I'm gonna hate the fact that I can't enjoy a couple hours before kickoff since I'll be fighting a major hangover from Mexican Martinis at Trudys friday night.

The money is great, but as you said in your previous post the fans don't like it. At some point, they will stop coming to early games and just watch on their 82" HD TVs. In a lot of ways, the move to the 9-game IC schedule, and the 3-6-6 format is being driven by fans. When 2/3 of your schedule sucks because you play teams once every 6 years, they have to do something.

Yes, I think it’s more then reasonable to assume some will get annoyed when some or most of their big games get put on a noon (11am central). It’s certainly not some crazy idea.

Given that Fox is giving the B1G $500 million a year, im going to guess the B1G really doesn't care. The fans might, but not the conference. Also, it is a ratings monster too.

Just hypothetically throwing this out here, but a potential schedule would look like this. Since USC and UCLA aren't in the conference yet, im going to have them play each other in this scenario. And use the games from Oct 30th of this past season.

Fox Noon: #6 Michigan at #8 Michigan State
CBS 3:30: #20 Penn State #5 Ohio State
NBC 7:30: USC vs. UCLA OR Wisconsin at #9 Iowa
FS1 Noon: Purdue at Nebraska
BTN Noon: Northwestern at Minnesota
FS1 3:30: USC vs. UCLA OR Wisconsin at #9 Iowa
BTN 3:30: Indiana at Maryland
Peacock 3:30: Illinois at Rutgers

You're still going to get a good game in the primetime slot. And the only thing the network cares about is getting a good rating. Wisconsin vs. Iowa drew almost 2 million viewers and it was going opposite MSU/Michigan, UT/Baylor and a Cincy game with playoff implications. You stick a game like that in primetime, it's gonna get probably around 4 million, even going up against an SEC game on ABC and ESPN.
