no i was told that the Big ten was one of the big 2 conferences and that all the money being thrown at them proves it.

To be fair, the B1G East is usually pretty good. It is like the SEC East and SEC West sometimes. SEC East is drug down by Missouri and Vandy right now although Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Tennessee have had terrible years in the past as well.
 
Almost as bad as the Big 12 north was. Bill Callahan won it one year.
