The US will never make the semifinals. Not in the next 100 years. Our best athletes play other sports and there isn't enough passion for it at the jr level. People would rather risk head injuries and play real football in this country.
 
.... and international soccer is dead again for another 4 years when it comes to our soil so we can all watch the humiliating loss in our own backyard.

I thought that too. Then I went home to my high school in Alabama where football is king. After school all of the lil bastards were playing soccer. It made me sick. 🤢

This.

We have mostly soccer moms pushing soft kids to play a less physical sport. Some talented guys, but I've always viewed the USMNT as baby skin soft, mentally and physically. Combine that with the current coach and a team like The Netherlands will wreck you. Don't buy the headlines and praise for the US, they were destroyed today.

Why? The players reactions would look no different than they do now. They drop to the ground like they are were shot by a sniper now, writhing in pain, without even being touched. :pound:

I don't hate soccer. I loosely follow the Sounders. Just don't get worked up over international team because it's never going to be any better than it is now. The announcers telling us this is the team of the future while looking at a 3-1 score. I've heard it/seen it before many times over the last 40+ years of watching it now and then every 4 years. It doesn't ever change. US always looks outmatched and outcoached. Always. They can't pass the ball and hold possession and allow too many transition goals. It will be the same 4 years from now.

-we still can’t break through a midblock
-we still get burned in transition
-we still operate way too quickly in possession and settle for bad chances

The only hopeful thing with this team is they really are quite young. That being said, Berhalter is not the guy to get to the next level. He reminds me of Sark, he'll fix a problem but never progress past that point, and he's soft. Like limp D soft. That won't get it done and it will stop the growth of this team dead in it's tracks.
