If you were on the playoff committee, what four teams would you vote for?

I think it was pretty clear I was comparing 2021 Cincy to 2022 Tulane.

Was that somehow unclear?

The Cincy team with Ridder is much better than 2022 Cincy. Hell they had a top 5 pick at corner that may be Rookie DPOY
I pretty sure my curbstomp was hyperbole too....but let's just say I think tulane is worthy of a nye bowl

To be honest, this is a tough one.

I am going with:

1. Georgia
2. Michigan
3. TCU
4. Ohio State

Curious to see who others would vote for.

1. Georgia

Save yo money and yo time.

Just crown them and be done with it

USC and Tennessee have zero chance.
Correct, but that doesn't change the fact that the committee would absolutely jump at the opportunity to put those two teams in there over TCU if it was feasible.

and fwiw, Alabama should have zero chance, too.

Perfect year for the BCS. UGA vs Michigan that’s all we need.
And it will be another ass beating. Georgia is the clear top team and it’s been like that ALL year

OSU Michigan.

It was a one score game with 7 minutes left. 31 23.

OSU still managed 500 yards of offense. They just didn't punch it in. Credit to Michigan for that.
Playcalling was atrocious. Didn’t have their top 2 RB, top WR. They were awful in the RZ and the DC changed schemes and made zero adjustments at half.
The part I don’t get is why you don’t make adjustments at half.

Don't want to say you got beat down? Don't lose by 20+. The entire second half was a beat down. Ohio State freaked out in their own heads about losing to Michigan again and played scared the whole time.

Michigan played like a team that wanted to win the game. Ohio State played like a team trying their best not to lose (with a few exceptions).

It was as much a mental beatdown too
Day has been playing not to lose for awhile now with is playcalling

Bama lost to Tennessee and LSU. Tennessee probably has a better shot at getting in than Bama since they beat Bama.

Yep and I'm not convinced that they won't use TCU's loss yesterday to sneak Bama in there.

Ftr, I don't think they will, but I won't fully believe it until I actually see TCU in.

Alabama fans and Saban are using the "quality loss" argument 😆.

Bama should not be ranked higher than Tennessee. Tennessee beat Bama.

Tennessee lost 2 games. One to the number one team in the nation, Georgia and one to the Gamecocks who are 8-4 with a couple good wins including Clemson. Tennessee has a better resume than Bama.

Bama shouldn't even be mentioned in the playoff talks...........

Eyeballs on television sets moves the needle here. Which fanbases of an also-ran are more likely to watch if their team doesn’t make the cut?

Top 2 are in. 3 & 4 are the questions. These guys:
TCU - one-loss CCG loser
CLEM - two-loss CCG winner
USC - two-loss CCG loser
tOSU - one-loss no CCG
TN/BAMA - two-loss no CCG

I would like to see who of these had the toughest road to hoe. I’d use something like the Massey Composite Conference Ranking to help understand.

Then the other standards, common opponents, margin of victory/loss, quality wins/losses. Based on this, here is how I see it panning out:
1. UGA
2. Michigan
3. TCU
4. tOSU

There are two reasons Alabama is a head of Tennessee:

1. Hendon Hooker getting hurt
2. How bad Tennessee lost to South Carolina. If game was closer, I think we would have a better argument.

This is my biggest gripe w the whole thing. Every year we get that “…but are they one of the four best teams in college football?” argument. This is why W’s and L’s should matter, why conference titles should matter and the results of the games should matter not who people “think” are the best 4 teams. Doesn’t matter what people think.

It’s a broken system.
Well you need some objective criteria to determine the “best”. Getting beat twice in the regular season and not earning a division title or conference title means you are objectively not the 4 best.

Danielson is paid to be an SEC shill I get it. But he was using a win over a shitty Auburn team as his argument for why they’re better than TCU who had a hard fought championship game that really boiled down to poor coaching decisions.

Danielson is an idiot.

I don’t understand #1. You should be ranked on how you have performed, not a future forecast of how you will perform because your star player is hurt.

Now # 2 on the other hand …

Why? I mean, tbh, I don't think either Bama or Ohio State are beating Georgia but why would you think Bama has the best shot?

Bama lost to the two best teams they faced and both of those teams got beat up by Georgia
Familiarity more than anything. From what I've observed, I think Bama and Ohio State are equally good. While neither may be as good as some of their recent teams, they are both still pretty damn good IMO. I also think teams that can sling it are the only ones that can beat Georgia. And those slingers must also be able to take it and run when protection breaks down. Ohio State and Bama meet that criteria, Michigan doesn't.

If Michigan tries to play Georgia in a phone booth it won't turn out well IMO.
