The Longhorns

No one would have gotten rid of him:

First season, win your division
Third season, win your conference

He would have been on the hot seat after 2nd season but not fired. The only 2 programs that may have canned him with that record are Oklahoma and Ohio State because they constantly win their leagues, it is disappointing if they don’t. However, even they would likely have kept Dabo.
Texas wouldn't have even kept him after being an interim hire.. Hell SC didn't keep Orgeron as an interim. Dabo is special because he's special and the situation with Clemson is special. How many other times has that happened recently? The old days of sticking with a coach for 7 years is done.

If Clemson can become what they have become under Dabo Swimmer, i think about any program has a chance. Where was Clemson 10 years ago?
Clemson is actually in a decent recruiting area. That and they are on the FBI tapes for paying recruits, that helps

You mean the church isn't helping kids from out of state families with homes, cars and new jobs.. with good intentions?

Texas has kept Herman longer for doing less lol.

I know Tennessee would nit have fired him had he won the SEC East in year 1. Even his losing season was a bowl birth and they lost the bowl game.

The football program is about the same as Nebraska’s right now, only difference is Texas has hope
Hope based on what? herman will have more luck next year in his 5th year than the first 4? That there is a better QB that Sam is just blocking right now?

no you idiot, that it's much easier for Texas to get players that can make a difference.. Since your yapping over there.. You might as well be Nebraska without the history as well, or is this the season where you'll finally win the division?

Actually between the two, Texas A&M should have more potential being the only Texas team in the SEC. They play in more high profile games. Oklahoma is the only blue blood on Texas' schedule unless they have someone OOC. A&M at least has Alabama, Auburn, and LSU and could have one of the East Blue Bloods.

what's the use of playing more teams like that if they can't beat them consistently? So they have just as good of a shot like Arkansas and Ole Miss? I mean that's why they hired Jimbo right? Funny thing is, after beating FL, they will revert themselves back into playing close games vs Ole Miss or MSU..then get into a fight going down to the last minutes vs arkansas again.. but yeah they are in a MUCH better position

I'm talking about the Longhorns in a thread about the longhorns. Try to stay on topic, sir.

Well even Arkansas and Ole Miss are upgrades over most Big12 opponents because they have more fan support and are the state schools. Most of the Big12 schools are in the shadow of another state school and don't have large fan bases. The Kansas schools might be the exception besides OU and Texas of course.

Well if we are talking about who is in a better position, the one team you play is OU and you can't consistently beat them. Then you have what? Nothing. Sure A&M will stink up some games, like y'all do against TCU seemingly every year.

I left out West Virginia... they are possible a good name if they can get back to form. However the long road trips hurts WVU I imagine.

ahhh so the old argument of if Arkansas was in the Big 12 they would have dominated.. Yeah guess that's why the teams that left are in a much better place after dominating the Big 12 for soooo long, right? Guess tcu/bu should be thanking aggy and mizzu for their 3 Conf championships compared to the 1 they mustered together while in the Big 12?

Ugh, Arkansas was the 2nd strongest team after Texas in the SWC lol.

yep.. but again. after all this shit product on the field.. it's still better than nebraska.. why? because it's just a coach and another VY player away from being relevant again? Would you bet the state of NE or TX being able to produce a VY like player again quicker?

You are going by history.. We all sucked in the 90's.. hell UTs last "good" team in the SWC got annihilated by Miami in the cotton bowl.. and that wasn't the killer Miami team either. But I'm glad to know had Arkansas somehow stuck and merged into the Big 12, they would have done fantastic as well.

TCU and BU have the same number of big12 championships at Texas? And TCU has only been around how long? :pop2:

Produce or end up at Texas? Texas will churn out another top notch QB before NE will. Doesn't mean Herman will bring him in though.
