Man the SEC Sucks

Some Calling Pitt a “great win” still cracks me up. Pitt couldn’t beat Georgia Tech.

Pitt isn't great, but im guessing if Tennessee doesn't beat them they are currently ranked at 9-3. And then Tennessee would be a 3 loss team not in a NY6 bowl and likely ranked in the 12-17 range.

If Pitt is a great win, then USC and Stanford beating Notre Dame are great wins. I suppose USC gets another one for beating a 10 win Fresno team. And if Fresno is a great win for USC, then give UCLA credit for beating Fresno and a 10 win South Alabama team....since Troy was great win for the SEC......

Pitt was the 7th best win mentioned in that grouping. Yes, beating ND are great wins for the conference, the SEC still had 4 wins better than those 2, however. And yes, beating Fresno St and South Alabama are good wins, but Troy did beat South Alabama, and won the Sun Belt, so obviously, not quite as good as beating Troy.

A&M was ranked #6
Florida #12
Arkansas #10
Kentucky #7
Ole Miss #7
Miss St #16
LSU #6

That's wild.

Bowl games no longer matter. It's what you do OOC that sets up the perception of the league. The league did pretty good OOC.
When have bowls ever "matter" in the first place? Conference perception has always been an overrated aspect in viewing how good a team may or may not be

I'd say they used to when players didn't opt out of them or transfer before the game. As far as conference perception, I'd say it's still about regular season OOC games. But bowl games did mean more in regards to that, in prior years.

Then again, SEC teams are 6-6 and they are playing 9-3 and 7-5 teams.

A 6-6 team playing a 7-5 team? The horror! I'll give you Florida playing Oregon State but that happens to bigger name brands that have a bad season quite often. Oklahoma is playing Florida State, for example.

At the end of the day one team walks away with some wacky trophy and an extra W in win column from an exhibition game, don't see how that's any different from before

How much does conference perception actually matter tho? The perception of the BIG wasn't great this year and yet they get two teams in the playoffs. Wisc, MSU, etc maybe down but doesn't make OSU or UM any worst of a football team

Ohio State alone beat the MAC Champ and ACC Champ OOC. Then when you look at Indiana beating New Orleans Bowl champ Western KY, what else do you want?

True that. Where is my ACC Championship Banner?

Volbound has a very interesting way of viewing things. For some reason he thinks the SEC should buy out Texas and OU so they can start SEC play immediately because it’s a bad look. He doesn’t factor in that’s real money that comes out of everyone else’s pocket and ain’t no one going to be ok with that.

If you are discussing SEC expansion he typically ignores the economics of it and argues for teams like Oklahoma State and West Virginia which will never happen.

Now he wants us to decline bowls because it’s embarrassing.

Free country and we need to let him be him but it’s tough sometimes.

Way to put words in my mouth...

Non playoff bowls

8-4 South Carolina vs 8-4 Notre dame
10-2 Tennessee vs 11-2 Clemson
10-2 Alabama vs 10-3 Kansas state
7-5 Kentucky vs 7-5 Iowa
8-4 Miss state vs 8-4 Illinois
9-4 LSU vs 8-5 Purdue

Arkansas and Kansas were both 6-6

Ole Miss was 8-4 Texas Tech was 7-5

Wake Forest 8-4 vs Missouri 6-6 and Oregon State 9-3 vs Florida 6-6 are the only games you can make the mismatch based on record claims. Some people will try to get you to believe it’s a great amount of the games though.
