You guys probably aren't hearing much of this and the chances of it getting traction are slim but Hugh Freeze has made an argument to change the spring format which is boring and stupid with an actual Jamboree-type game. For example, Bama would play Troy and Auburn vs UAB with rules in place to protect QBs and such.

The big argument is that your team's chances of injury go down 50% because not a 100% of your players are on the field at all times.

Hopefully, other coaches will jump in on this and give it some traction.

I think it is a good idea. Preseason games are needed in CFB. Perhaps some of those FCS vs. FBS games can move to the front of the schedule and become a preseason game.

We could meet in Carlsbad and kick Tech’s butt.

It would be interesting. I would rather have a pre-NFL draft series of draft eligible players games.

Not a fan of this. Spring games are just a final scrimmage open to fans.
They're typically hurried and meant to minimize injuries.

I'm ok not going with that because UT doesn't charge it's fans to attend the game.. but if they ever did.. I would like to see them scrimmage another school..

How about stop all the special crap they come up with and just put #1 vs #2 offense/defense.
At least make a real game out of it.

last spring Sark had #1 vs #1 but not in a game format..it was some pt system.. UT didn't have enough bodies on the OL to field 2 teams.. that's how bad the roster makeup was. On the 15th, I think it goes back to the more traditional #1 Offense going the #2 Defense.. #1 Defense going against the #2 Offense

I think that's what the fans want to see, 1's vs 2's anyway
And even have Coaches for each squad. Lets see some friendly competition there too.

Smart won't want to play other teams. He is too much of a control freak. We do 1 v. 1. Hell, we want our 1s going against our 1s, not against some crap school like KSU, GaSouthern, or GaState. Our 2s and 3s are better than their 1s, and he's wants our guys to go against the best.

This would be over:
- The minute one of the big boys loses to a crap school in spring.
- The minute someone gets hurt because the crap school takes it seriously.
- A fight breaks out.

Plus, G day is a time for UGA fans, especially those who normally can't afford to come to Athens, to get a chance to get in the stadium. Don't want to give up 10,000 seats or more to another school.

No thanks. I think with the emotions tied into the college game, and without the roster cuts like in the NFL, what you'd end up doing is just functionally extending the season. They'd turn into weird quasi games -- "Michigan beat LSU in the spring game"....

Seems like something that would mostly just benefit the traditional powers.

About 90% of FBS teams already play glorified scrimmages anyway.

It’s not the dumbest idea in CFB, but still pretty dumb.

Worse would be Western Michigan beats Michigan in spring game. That's where it becomes a lose lose.
