Titantic Claims 5 more?

I've seen the story. Crazy. I think he survived on Pepsi or something.

There is footage from divers finding him..
I remember that. He looked like he was in shock

They knowingly made a decision too put themselves at high risk so my sympathy is limited

They had to sign waivers.
when someone does anything that is high risk and doesn't survive...it is kind of hard to be super sympathetic.

like a guy who does flying down a mountain in a squirrel suit...they knew the risk going in and they chose to do it.

there doesn't seem to be much compassion for refugees who die on a raft....so I don't think so
Blame the media. They’re not covering that story.

You could probably count me out of anything where oxygen is measured in lengths of time other than like scuba diving.

If Gabby Petito and Brian Launderie were in that sub this is all anyone would be talking about.

If these guys weren't rich, would you feel more compassion?
Word.

I certainly don't feel badly for them anymore than I do the folks who die climbing Mt Everest, as they all know the risks they're taking, but I have compassion that they lost their lives and I do feel badly for their families.

That said, I've seen things about how it's no big deal or even a good thing because they were rich, and that's pretty off-putting.

OceanGate's HQ is 10 miles from me. I'll be passing by there later today and see if there are any media trucks/crowds outside their HQ.

It's on a marina, right next to a pier I sometimes fish from.

Hoping to get some comments from the CEO? I wouldn't hold my breath.

why would I blame the media?
You’re complaining that nobody cares about migrants who drowned in a capsized boat but it’s not being reported as widely as this story. Blame the people whose job it is to report on these things.

I am not complaining about that.

I am saying there doesn't seem to be much sympathy for those lost in that manner either and they have no money.

I think we live in a world where there isn't a lot of sympathy out there...it has nothing to do with what is and isn't being reported

hell there are those who barely show sympathy for a kid killed in a school shooting

...and you're a willing participant.
I never said I wasn't.

I can be as numb to it as others.

In this case, it's more the known risk that contributes to how much sympathy I have.

meanwhile my friend from high school was just put on hospice and I have a ton of sympathy there.

I don't think the folks in the sub deserved any of this but they took on the risk knowing the consequences of something going wrong.

I think that some of these things are so commonplace it’s not that people don’t care but they’re numb to it.

This was a unique story. I by no means think they deserve any more or less sympathy because of the size of their wallets.

And sure you may not feel a lot of sympathy for the individuals that rolled the dice, their families deserve it either way.

It is sad how dead emotionally the world seems.

I agree. There is sympathy, esp for the 19 yr old who was going on a great adventure with his dad.

and familie deserve to mourn.

I don't actually think the world is a better place because they are gone like I joked a few pages back...it sucks that this whole thing failed.
