Ozempic, Mounjaro manufacturers sued over claims of "stomach paralysis" side effects

A personal injury law firm filed a suit against Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly and Co., the manufacturers of Ozempic and Mounjaro.

The lawsuit claims that the two companies, Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly, “knew of the association between the use of GLP-1 receptor agonists and the risk of developing severe gastrointestinal issues, including gastroparesis and gastroenteritis.”

Their “failure to disclose information that they possessed regarding the association between the use of GLP-1 receptor agonists and the risk of developing severe gastrointestinal issues, including gastroparesis and gastroenteritis, rendered the warnings for this medication inadequate,” it continues.

Vomiting and abdominal pain are both listed as possible adverse events on prescribing information for Ozempic and Mounjaro, and the lawsuit does not say whether Bjorklund was diagnosed with gastroparesis — stomach paralysis.

In this instance, it's vanity. Even if they ran a commercial right now that said you have a high probability of losing a limb, I bet you'd still have people signing up in droves, if it helped them lose weight quickly.

This encapsulates what's wrong with health in America perfectly. "Don't like being a fat fuck who has diabetes, colitis and chronic bad breath? Then take this pill and don't sweat any need for a change in lifestyle!" Then, when the pill doesn't work, or there are nasty side effects, just move onto the next miracle cure pill. And/or sue the pharma company.

These medications have been in short supply for quite some time since doctors started prescribing them for off-label use (weight loss). Sounds like that problem may be short-lived.
