Article on the Detroit News or Free Press site, can't remember which one, has it rumored MSU is looking at Hartline to replace Tucker as HC.

Part of me would love it, as Hartline is an unbelievably recruiter at the WR position for OSU, and it'd weaken OSU initially. Then part of me hates it, as I don't want him bringing those type of players to MSU.

Tough to decide when you hate one school and really hate the other school. :pound:

I hope Ohio State gives him whatever the hell he wants. Not only is he recruiting well but he is developing them really well too. Makes recruiting the QB position a heck of a lot easier too bc they know they are going to be throwing to amazing receivers.

Everything I have read is that he is really happy at Ohio State and that it would take something incredible for him to leave. Guy made almost 20 mil in the NFL and is getting paid well for an assistant at Ohio State as well so I don't think it can just be money (unless it is just an ungodly amount of money)

That would be a great hire for MSU -- and a terrible loss for Ohio State

Yea could be wrong but I feel like he would only leave for a big time job if that ever came up. Michigan State currently does not fit that mold.

I honestly feel like he just sits back and waits for Day to go to leave Ohio State. Whether that be for the NFL or from Ohio State moving on from him if he doesn't correct the Michigan trend. He would then have an inside track at the HC job

he can recruit WRs.. but he hasn't shown anything that would warrant him a HC gig.. He's OC by title only, we all know who's offense is getting ran currently.

MSU should make Mike Elko tell them no

Hartline if he stays, is the next HC at ohia state

But apparently they pay well

I believe that is why he backed out of the Cincy job

Getting that as your first HC job is huge though. Just look at the last couple of guys who left as coordinators at OSU(Hafley to BC, Herman to Houston, Fickell to Cincy) And MSU is obviously willing to pay(see the Tucker contract) All you can do as a coach is ask for resources, MSU is right up there with anyone IMO.

That would be a GREAT hire. He's been good everywhere he's been.

I could see him leave with Ohio State's blessing. He could pull a Chryst move, get 3 years training at MSU and then come back to take the Ohio State job.

True. Is MSU really going to shell out that kind of money again though after the Mel Tucker fiasco? That would be my question
Good question. And FWIW I would say no. It appeared they had buyer's remorse after his first season

Doubtful that happens. I cannot think of any coach that switched jobs in conference

I still believe OSU screwed Fickell over. He was placed in an impossible situation and their solution was to make him co-defensive coordinator. Didn't blame him for getting out of there
