Be Honest About Your Team Here (College Edition)

This isn't unfair, and yeah if UGA for whatever reason shits the bed in a must-win game they could lose. Obviously Bama has talent. To circle back, though, if UGA is still elite UGA who deserves to be considered the unquestioned #1, this should not be a difficult win.
Stop ... UM should have been a win for you ... you have more talent, the better team. But, it's a rivalry game and anything can happen.

Bama v. UGA is the same as tOSU v. UM. It's almost always going to be a tough rivalry game between top teams. I fully expect to win, but I've posted all year long that we aren't elite. Really good? Yes. Elite, no. I thought we were rounding into Elite after our November games, but the Ga Tech game has me wondering.

And UGA isn't the unquestioned #1 ... the CFP committee had us as no. 2 for several weeks.

If New Mexico St was a trap game for Auburn (which I agree), doesn't it also make sense that Auburn was a trap game for Bama looking ahead to Georgia?
I wouldn't be surprised if Bama thought they were going to walk over Auburn after what happened against NMSU, but I'm sure Saban was on their ass all week.

That game is just f'ed up every year it is played at Auburn, no matter what the records are.

It wasn't a surprise to see the game turn out to be close. Auburn pulls shit every time they play Bama at home.

Since Saban took over at Bama -- Auburn is 1-7 in road games against Alabama and 4-5 in home games against Alabama.

In 9 games played at Auburn with Saban as coach -- Alabama has outscored Auburn by 20 points total and EVERY YEAR -- Alabama is one of the best teams in the country and Auburn isn't.
2023 -- Bama #8 Auburn unranked 27-24
2021 -- Bama #3 Auburn unranked 24-22 4 OT's
2019 -- Bama #5 Auburn #16 Auburn wins 48-45
2017 -- Bama #1 Auburn #7 Auburn wins 26-14

You get the picture. Did people think Auburn stood a chance in the game? Absolutely not. Are they surprised it happened? Not really. That is the one game you can throw the records out the window.
I just don't buy into the supernatural aspect of it. Auburn is a trash team. 2017 and 2019 weren't all that surprising; those two were good teams that only had very close losses to high-end teams as their only blemishes, not 21-point losses at home to teams that UMass is able to dismantle. The same SEC fans saying it's such a special rivalry that this is just what happens would never let another fanbase hear the end of it if the roles were reversed.

This is my point. You're dismissing poor play because it's such a "unique rivalry" when in reality Alabama wins that game with ease if they were a better team. I get that it's Auburn's Super Bowl but that's the case for many teams when they play Bama. When I see other very ugly games Bama has played this year, I feel like the Iron Bowl is just yet another good indication of who they are this year. Talented but wildly undisciplined with several weaknesses.
Look, you seem to want to prove you know nothing about the Iron Bowl every time you post. It is a unique rivalry whether you want to admit it or not. I am just posting history, not my opinion.

Thank you ... I didn't know how else to put it ... the Iron Bowl at Auburn is the craziest phenomenon you could ever want to see in CFB.

Oh knock it off. michigan is an extremely talented team with a shitload of returning experience playing for a conference title/CFP berth that also had an enormous chip on their shoulder. Auburn is a shit team that just got boatraced at home to a midmajor that was throttled by UMass. These situations are not remotely comparable.

Anyhow, I don't see this being a close game, and it shouldn't be. Proven talent + experience + consistency all dramatically favor UGA. This isn't a 2010-2020 Bama team.

You can ignore reality all you want, but it's still a reality. I tried to explain it to you, but @NewPhoneWhoDis lays it out above. And, if you go back 40 years you will find the same shit. For some reason you keep wanting to bring SEC fans into this ... no one else is. We are just pointing out fact that the Iron Bowl, especially in Jordan Hare is one fucked up game.

I wasn't talking Bama v. Auburn, I was responding to your post comparing UGA v. Bama.

You keep wanting to make the Iron Bowl out to be something it's not.

FWIW, it's good to see us back to our natural position of arguing against each other. I was getting a little sick to my stomach having to agree with you all the time about UM. I am beginning to appreciate that UM win a little more now. jk, jk

I'm aware of what results are, I'm saying it's a result of poor, sloppy play. This year of all years would indicate that is a trend for Bama. Unless you are actually trying to say there is a supernatural aspect to playing there?

They Buckeyes need work on the Oline and improvement in the QB area. The int's are a problem. The D is not bad but I dont like the lack of sacks.

I don't think we should lose anyone on the offensive line, should we? They continually got better as the year went on. Donovan Jackson getting blown up at the end of the game was the only really inexcusable thing I saw from the offensive line against Michigan

They did very well vs mi. But remember McCord was getting killed early in the season. First year starter and bad Oline early on. I expect better next year but I am not sold on McCord. The problems were not all his fault.

When people say "Voodoo" do you really think we mean "supernatural?" C'mon man. What we are saying is that when it comes to Bama playing the Iron Bowl in JH Stadium, crazy shit happens. It's fact, not opinion. So, we are further saying that just because Auburn lost to NMSU and then played Bama close doesn't mean Bama sucks. How can you not understand this? I've admitted multiple times that Bama isn't the Bama of old. I've stated that we should win and we are the better team. The only thing we seem to disagree on is that you want the Iron Bowl to mean something more than it is while I am telling you that the outcome of that game means nothing because of the crazy history.

I am not going to argue with you anymore. I've pointed out facts. You can believe whatever you want to believe.

Here's the final thing I'll say. I get it's a rivalry game and those games tend to be close a lot of times. The problem I have is Auburn is a program is total disarray and they have been the past 4 years. In the first two decades of this century (2000-2019), Auburn averaged 9 wins a year and that includes their 3 win season in 2012 and 5 win season in 2008. They've won 6, 6, 5, and 6 games the last 4 years. Clearly they are nothing close to as good as they once were. The whole "oh it's a rivalry, anything can happen" nonsense goes out the window when one program is falling completely off the rails like Auburn currently is.

Matthew Jones is gone, and I'd love to see them move Fryar to his spot at RG and put Montgomery at RT. I've heard a lot of good about Tegra Tshabola and he should be table to take over at LG if Jackson goes pro, but I don't think he should.

Mccord needs to get out of his own damn head. Seems like the kid played better when the pressure was on him and he didn't think as much and just made throws. That first interception was awful but the second wasn't his fault. That was the fault of a complete failure by one of his o linemen

The tools are there.

michigan's DB did a great job jumping the route on that first INT but damn, if Marv had actually finished his route it seemed like it would've just ended up as an incomplete pass.

The first few drives it looked like McCord and the WRs were running different plays
