Be Honest About Your Team Here (College Edition)

That INT was a back breaker. It caused us to have to play from behind the whole rest of the game basically and couple that with the defense fucking unable to get off the field most of the 2nd half, it was a death blow.

Can't complain about the season. I wasn't confident about ND or PSU and they managed to get those wins. Hurts to lose to Michigan again, but this season I think we were pretty obvious underdogs.

Need large improvements at QB, O-Line, and pass rush next season. Felt really weird going all season without a standout defensive end. One of the lowest sack totals in a decade from an otherwise pretty solid defense.

I get the feeling Day isn't going to be willing to make that change at QB and we will sluggish through next year again with McCord at QB.

McCord just finished his 3rd year with the program and showed ZERO improvement throughout the season.

We aren't winning shit with him.

One of Day's big issues is that he's EXTREMELY stuck in his ways and seems to really not like much change. This is not a good trait for a "big time" college coach.

Amen brother. This Day character kinda sucks

Michigan State is currently a trash team and a dumpster fire program that probably botched another hire.

Thank you ... I didn't know how else to put it ... the Iron Bowl at Auburn is the craziest phenomenon you could ever want to see in CFB.
Maybe these 2 teams don't have the national reputation, but I offer up Wisconsin at Northwestern. Them smart kids seem to have a spell on us.

We are a bit spoiled as a fanbase. Ryan Day is 56-7 in his career as HC at Ohio State.
- 2019: CFP Semis vs Clemson
- 2020: CFP Final vs Bama
- 2021: Oregon, Michigan
- 2022: Michigan, UGA (CFP Semis)
- 2023: Michigan

So in 6 years, he's gotten the team to the CFP 3x and the title game once and recruiting has not dropped off one bit since Meyer's exit. Basically, every blue blood program outside of Bama and UGA would absolutely snatch your hand off if you offered them that resume.

Sucks losing to our rival 3x in a row, but I've seen plenty of programs chase away good coaches in search of the ONE that will make everything perfect. Most have fallen flat and are still in some sort of HC search cycle.

How many years of not winning the real big games do you give him before you finally say enough?

If he loses to Michigan AGAIN next year and we get outed in the first round of the playoffs. Does he get a pass "BECAUSE HE MADE THE PLAYOFF!!!"

It's a different bar now. 10+ win seasons don't mean shit unless you actually win something.

Every other Big Ten coach would have went at least 60-3 with Ohio State's talent

Elitist!!!

"11 wins ain't enough. If we don't beat Michigan, might as well lose them all."

Michigan is getting free rent in your head. That might be a NCAA violation. Best report them.

Day is honestly probably a guy who would be a better NFL coach than a college one.

He just seems to not really "get" the college game enough.

I love that hire for MSU. He ended rough vs Oregon but he lost 3 other games by a combined 8 points, with two of those losses being against top 15 teams. It'll take a little time but I definitely think he can get MSU back to at least respectability, if not better.

Day without a doubt is a elite level recruiter.

He just isn't the best coach overall and wastes it.

He's not Jimbo level bad, but he's not a championship caliber coach either.
Obligatory "he was a FG away from a championship just last year" post.

He's not the best. I was upset when he refused to go for it on 4th and 1 and again when he settled for a long field goal attempt at the end of the half. Playcalling is at times suspect.

But these are the most minor things ever. His recruiting is excellent, he's done a good job hiring a DC to shore up the defense, and he always has the team ready to play as evidenced by having zero shocking upset losses on the resume so far.

Need upgrades at QB, O-Line, and defensive line and they have a championship caliber squad again.
