I kind of remember that.
These are just waves from a storm, but crazy-huge enough, I ain't fuckin' with them.
The ocean is one BAMF.

Also, I'd be lyin' if the signs that appeared all over the coast after that tsunami killed so many (I just looked it up, holy shit, that was almost 20 year ago!) don't give me the heebie jeebies whenever I see one.
If I ever saw the ocean pulling back when I was at the beach, I would gtfo ... do not pass go, do not collect $200.

I confronted the contractor.
He lied about it.
I calculated the cost of everything they took and subtracted it from the final bill.
If he had contested it in any way, I would have taken him to court.
He didn't, which, right there, confirmed everything for me.
