MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL Detroit Lions šŸ¦ @ Dallas Cowboys šŸ¤  on a Saturday Night edition of MNF.

Are we absolutely sure this isnā€™t the case: ???

ā€¢ CIRCLE is off the line therefore not covering 68.
ā€¢ the FIVE STRIPE linemen are ineligible.

ā€¢ Therefore, 68 is eligible because five other guys are ineligible and 68 is at the end of his side.

You can't pick how many on each side of the center are eligible. You cant' just pick 3 on the right side. Not how the rules work.

Allowing physical violence against officials will solve everyone's problems.
Except when they get it right and the coaches need to punch themselves in the nuts for not knowing the rules.

I didnt even see the play/have an opinion on it I just saw all the rabble rousing after the fact.

And Dan, your team just rode a massive roller coaster of emotion so why not kick the XP? Then they throw an INT but bailed out with an offsides. So why not an XP at that point?

McCarthy probably would have done something stupid even with a tied game.

This. Goodness they tried 3 or 4 times it seemed. At what point do you just say ok send it to OT

SVP is being such a cunt stating there's no way the ref should think 70 was reporting!
WHAT?!?
70 had already reported himself twice this game as eligible.
70 ran directly at the ref with his hands on his chest.
The ref was directly looking at him and pointing at him.
And 68 didnā€™t do anything demonstrative but subtlely brush his chest at the last second while 58ā€™s fat ass was between him and the ref.

Fuck SVP

You say that, but I , myself, am not sure of that.
Maybe because heā€™s the last guy on the line, he CAN be eligible.

EDIT: the more I research, Iā€™m led to believe he would be eligible if he successfully checked in with his number.

68 should have emphatically checked in and made sure the ref knew.

Anyone saying it was the refā€™s mistake is a jerkalope.

I went back and re-read some things, because I remember the NFL changed a rule after Belichek snuck a few tricks through in a playoff game. Unbalanced line tackles can catch a pass, so 68 isn't ineligible for being lined up at tackle.

No one is answering why 70 was running at the ref instead of at his huddle. Lol.

probably because he is irrelevant to the refs mistakes.
What is the refs defense? There were people running around me so I went all "Oooo Shiney" & missed the actual guy reporting to me?

The guy 70 who has already checked in as eligible twice today is running a sprint at me and has his hands up by his chest numbers has my attentionā€¦ and Iā€™m showing him my attention with my eyes, posture, and even pointing at him.

As has been explained in this thread a dozen times.

And the guy ā€œactually reportingā€ 68 as you say is taking a casual walk up to him with another fat guy, never once gets the refā€™s attention, and only swipes his hands on his chest after 70 runs up, while the ref is leaving NOT looking at him, and with fatass 58 in the direct way of him And the ref.

Dammit @broncosmitty I thought Detroit Defense was bad?
It is. Tonight was the best effort of the season. Lamb might not believe it. But itā€™s true.
well I guess that is the question.
According to @broncosmitty he says you can catch it as a tackle. Which I am unaware of.
He wasnā€™t covered by anyone to his left.

Lions were in heavy formation with double guards to the right. Unbalanced line.

Yeah.

Lions tried to be extra sneaky and the sneakiness worked on the refs AND the D.

Only so much sneakiness should be attempted on any given Saturday Night.

Linebackers throwing passes out of punt formation from your own 35 or whatever it was, prolly shoulda been enough.

@broncosmitty is saying you can if you are at end of the line. Said the center could be eligible if at end of line. I didnt realize this if true.
If youā€™re on the end of the line, you only need to report if your number is ineligible.

Thatā€™s as simple as I can make this.

The ā€œcenterā€ just being the guy who snaps the ball. If he reports as eligible and is on the end of the line, he can catch a pass. If you have your TE snap the ball, from the end of the line, he wouldnā€™t need to report as eligible. Since his number already takes care of it.

yes I understood what you were saying. I just didnt realize this.
I tagged you to give you credit for what I was mentioning.

there was the illegal formation you speak of & ironically illegal touching which they actually called right, but for the reasons @Guy Incognito points out. (not for the reasons they said)
This is the useful part right here.

That they did not line up properly for him to be eligible.

This is the kind of thing that happens to Lions fans

Sadly since Dallas didn't lose, McCarthy probably doesn't learn that you don't throw repeatedly when you have the ball and less than 2 minutes with the lead. You run, then run, then run, then kick/punt. Use up the timeouts, Mike!

I thought McCarthy pissed away the clock vs Miami the week before.....
Dallas was starting their final drive with a ton of time left,at about the 5 minute mark Im thinking they better score and score quick to save time......but they finally scored a td with 3 something left to go up 20-19.....
I kept thinking McCarthy didnt leave enough time to be able to get the ball back one last time for another score if needed.....
Turned out true as McDaniels used the clock well to get their game winning fg with no time remaining......

McCarthy shouldve been able to keep enough time on that clock to be able to have the ball last instead of using up over 7 minutes on their last drive.....
