The B1G released a schedule prior to the shutdown that most, if not all, thought was well made. It started on time, had 10 games, allowed for bye weeks, allowed for makeup games due to postponement. This showed that the B1G anticipated postponements and as we have seen in every other conference, rightfully so. That is smart planning. Then things turn sideways... the B1G abruptly shuts down football less than a week later. After other conferences moving forward and showing it can be done, as well as lawsuits and a ton of media criticism, the B1G then decides to announce that they will be returning football with an 8 game schedule... but they announce that it will not start for another month leaving no room for byes or makeup games. The B1G also instituted protocols for players and staff testing positive. Someone should have told me about the B1Gs incredible pandemic experts that apparently know more than the CDC, who require less time of quarantine than what the B1G suggests. Never mind the fact that everyone else can somehow manage to have some sort of fans in the stands, but not the B1G. Or that a minimum of 6 games need to be played in order to even qualify for the CCG, a rule that inherently punishes those that do manage their players well as again, since there are no makeup games, one team canceling inherently hurts their opponent/conference partner as well. And I don't believe we know yet how many games will be necessary for the CFP as I read that the committee will have to decide that. What if a couple Ohio State opponents have to cancel and the committee is simply saying that 5-6 games isn't enough when you have SEC, ACC, and Big12 teams that may have losses, but played 10-11 games? No offense to Ohio State and I hope that doesn't happen, but if I were on the committee, I would take a 9-1, 9-2 SEC, ACC, or Big12 team over a 5-0 or 6-0 B1G team. Being undefeated is important, but those other teams have played nearly double the amount of games and that matters a lot too. I have made similar arguments to why I think Notre Dames independent 12 game slate hurts them the same way (and that is only one game we are typically talking about).

I know I am ranting and a bunch of assholes are going to come in here and talk about whining or whatever, hence the thread title (IDGAF). I am not mad at Wisconsin, I am mad at the conference.

YOU HAVE KNOWN SINCE MARCH and apparently issued out no guidelines, protocols, plans, etc... (never heard about that so-called 'task force' until the criticisms from the shutdown came out) to ensure a happy and safe kickoff on time. Instead, you wait... and wait... and wait... then announce a return, but one that sets up the schools for failure. You don't allow fans, the guidelines released are harsher than the CDCs, you allow for no makeup games or byes, you have known since fucking March (6 months to plan)... I cannot stress that part enough. In terms of the conference... this is their fucking job, how do you get 6-7 months to plan out as much as you can, fuck it up and keep your job? Covid or not.

Look, all I know is that if I had 6-7 months to draft a proposal/response for my boss and I not only missed the deadline but then turned out something that impacts every other department as well in a negative way with no avenue of recourse, my ass would have been fired on the spot... and rightfully so.

Become an independent. It has it benefits.

Put in a good word with NBC?

I've been hoping for another blue blood to go independent and NBC scoop them up. NBC could have double-headers on days when ND and in this case Nebraska had home games, or they would at least stand a good chance at having inventory every week, if one of them was a road team.

Extremely unlikely to happen, but I like that idea as well.

Oh yeah basically no chance unless Nebraska wants to take a huge pay cut in terms of tv revenue. But Nebraska wouldn't have an issue getting a schedule.

Should just go as a forfeit for Wisconsin IMO. Nebraska shouldn’t be punished for Wisconsin’s fuckup.

The Braves played the full 60 game season and 3 playoff rounds without having a single game postponed due to Covid.

The only team who could possibly be upset about cancellations and missing out on a meaningful bowl game is OSU, because the only bowl games with any meaning are the CFP bowl games. The rest of the B1G isn't sniffing the CFP. Penn State lost already. Wisconsin has 27 QB's with Covid. Michigan could run the table and lose by 107 to OSU.
The rest of the B1G isn't going to the CFP anyways.
So I would understand an OSU fan getting upset if a game was cancelled, but any other team -- you still get to practice and work on your team. The only one shut down is Wisconsin.
I didn't think there was a chance in hell they even had a season, so I'm happy with any games I get to watch

You are a proven retard. go back to the other place.

They haven't been in the same conference as Texas in eight years but they still bitch about them.
When has nebraska bitched about Texas recently?? seems to me the only idiots mentioning nebraska and texas in the same sentence are texas retards.

I've made this argument here, as well. It's a twofold issue ... playing 4 or 5 less games gives you a substantially less chance of a loss, so the CFP will have to look past just losses. 6-0 and 11-0 aren't the same, 6-0 and 10-1 aren't the same. A 1 loss team that played 4 or 5 games more will have to be considered equal.

But, as important is that it simply isn't fair that a team that played 6 or 7 games gets to go play a team that had to play 11 conference games. Fresh legs v. game weary legs. Less chance for injury, just look at Bama and Waddel. So. let's say you have a 1 loss, SEC no. 2 of Bama or a 1 loss ACC no. 2 in Clemson or ND. I think those teams get in before a B1G team that only plays 6 or 7 games because to do otherwise would be totally an unfair matchup.

I hate it for the athletes, but the B1G screwed the pooch on this one, and they better hope there aren't cancellations that affect tOSU or whoever else might win the B1G.

This isn’t the 20th century. You can’t put Nebraska and blue blood in the same sentence.

Well in this millennia, Nebraska has still played for a national title, 4 conference titles, and has still won 149 games. It isn't like the dominance that was seen in the 70's, 80's, and 90's, but hell.... still beats Wazzu.
