2024 College Football TV Ratings

I wonder if the difference is ND/Navy everyone thought it wasn't going to be a competetive game, while FSU/GT wasn't a forgone conclusion.

ESPN did much more promotion of the game than NBC did. Between McAfee's show being broadcast over there, along with GameDay leading into the game, I think that certainly helped. It being competitive I also think was a factor. I think ND was favored by like 24 or something last year. And it got out of hand early.

Pretty good number for FSU/GT. Would have been a top 35 rated game for last year. The last Nielsen rated FSU/GT game received got 3.52 million viewers in 2020. CFB off to a strong start in 2024.

Thought it would have been higher than 4.99 million given there was no competition in the time slot and being the only meaningful game of Week 0.

That being said Austin Karp needs a maffs class or to learn the English language.

"up 31% from 3.8 million for Notre Dame-Navy last year from Ireland, and well above Fox's 4.42 million for Northwestern-Nebraska in 2022"

Notre Dame/Navy was 3.8 million which GT/FSU was up 31%
Northwestern/Nebraska was 4.42 million which GT/FSU was only up 13%.

Which games viewership was GT/FSU more "well above"? :headscratch:

13% is still well above IMO. Anything over a 10% increase is a pretty big spike when comparing ratings. The game was well above both comparisons. One just more so than the other.

Why use the terminology "well above" to describe just a 13% increase, but not to describe a 31% increase?
The 31% is over twice as much as the number that "well above" was used to describe.

31% was described as just being "up".
13% was described as "well above".

Note that he didn't even use a percentage to describe the increase over Northwestern/Nebraska. That's because he'd have looked like an even bigger idiot.

Is it really that big of a deal? Well above still applies to the NW/Nebraska game. How would you like him to describe a 31% increase. Using well above or way above doesn't apply. He's also working with a character limit.

The idiot could have just said GT/FSU was "up 13%" over the Northwestern-Nebraska in 2022.

He'd have saved 4 characters.

I mean yeah, I guess. I still don't understand why this is so upsetting. Lol.

This sounds un patriotic but when I see a service academy playing.. i automatically think this is going to suck lol. I only would tune in for the ARMY vs NAVY game.. outside my Horns playing either of them of course

It was a terrific win for Nebraska

How many sell-out home games at Nebraska does it take to total half a million?

Do you need maffs help too?
No. I’m Orange. I don’t wear corn caps to make myself feel smart. BTW, does little Red still have a restraining order against you?

Well the maffs is like 4th grade stuff if you Google Nebraska stadium capacity and divide it into 500,000. Maybe that simple research is above a Vols head.

Lil' Red's restraining order will likely stay intact until I withdraw the threat to put a dart in it.

OK, let’s be friendly and help out Red Alert. For the 2024 season, Their Nebs stadium holds about 85k (plans to improve it will lower capacity to ~75k, but the portly, aging Cornheads will be more comfortable). Half a million is 5.88 sell-out home games. Average 2023 & 2024, and that’s ~a season worth of folks. Now, Cornheads think a season of home games is significant, even if they’re not all on TV. So, extrapolating, the additional half a million viewers watching GT upset FSU was huge.

No need to thank me. Bless your heart.

So why did you ask to begin with?

I know why. Because you were either too lazy too look up the capacity answer or the 4th grade maffs was above your head.
You should be thanking me for challenging you enough to figure the answer out for yourself. We've lost people like you in the public school system who can't think for themselves.

All of Nebraska's football games are on TV.

Your public school system also cost you common sense.

2023 viewership............

Virginia/Tennessee = 2.46 million
Northwestern/Nebraska = 4.42 million

Let me challenge you again. Which is greater 4.42 million or 2.46 million?

You can do this.

Northwestern/Nebraska viewership 4.42 million
Virginia/Tennessee viewership 2.46 million
4.42 million - 2.46 million = 1.96 million

Me: "I'll take College Football for $800, Alex"

Alex: "How many sell-out home games at Tennessee does it take to total 1.96 million?"

Me: "What is 19, Alex"
