Pac12 expansion - looking to add 4 teams

Boise, SDSU, Fresno and CSU will be added soon.

At that point, they will try to add 2 Texas schools in order to get to 8 (NCAA minimum). UTSA, North Texas, Rice, Texas State, and UTEP are the targets. UTSA and UNT are the top targets. Does the new PAC have another power to pull from the AAC?

Once the rest of the MWC schools become available without the buyout, they will round out with the schools that they want. Probably UNLV and Air Force.

The new PAC 10 will probably end up looking something like this:

Air Force
Boise State
Colorado State
Fresno State
North Texas
Oregon State
San Diego State
UNLV
UTSA
Washington State

I'd personally go with UNLV and New Mexico out of the Mtn. West. New Mexico has a really good bball tradition. AFA doesn't have that, and hasn't been good enough in football IMO. Also, I think I'd lean Texas State instead of North Texas.

I know why they want a Texas school, but none of us really bring any increase in viewership. If for recruiting, then North Texas is it by a long shot. DFW is leading state in that dept IMHO.

However, here’s a side note out of my team. UTEP had nearly 42,000 in the Sun Bowl last Saturday. Most of any G5 team this year and more than some P4s. And those 42,000 got to watch us blow a lead and lose to Southern Utah. We’re good at shit like that!
Can't just look at it from a football standpoint. If they were to go with like a Texas State, Rice, Sam Houston then they could bring in some baseball as well.

Would bringing in Rice given their academic standing in anyway convince Cal/Ford to join??

I wonder how far east they'll be willing to go. Are they going to try to stay as west as they can? There is no doubt they'll have less funds available per school than they're used to, but still probably want to keep the markets they're in as large as possible.

Utah State
UNLV
Nevada Reno
Hawaii???
Wyoming
New Mexico

I doubt Cal and Stanford will go down to that level

At least for now, you downgraded. You can pretend ya didn't or argue there was no choice but in reality this is still the MWC with OSU and Wazzou.

I'll be interested to see who else is added and what that first media deal looks like.

Restarting the PAC 12 is better than waiting on the gay Big 12.

And since currently the PAC 12’s media partner is the CW and the CW has a relationship with the ACC it seems the ACC may be breaking up soon so the Big 12 will canabalize their lower academic schools

I don't really think there were any other options. They can try to go independent in football, but then all their other sports have nowhere to go. The B12 was always a pipe dream IMO, so this is the best option. If there was a place to go, they would have gone there in the last round of realignment.

I am curious to see who they add and how many. I hope it's only 8 and the Mtn. West adds Montana/State and the Dakotas. To still stay at 10/12.

Looks like we’re moving to the pac-6

Like I said, IF it isn't about increasing viewership/money (which it wouldn't IMO) and becoming the best G6 conference, this makes a lot of sense. While the AAC might not agree, I think it would be the best G6 conference by a long shot. JMO

First the B12 is not kicking anyone out. Thats a pipe dream pal. The CW has a small relationship with the ACC. ESPN is still the one that matters.

Next it would have been stupid to add you guys as no one else is right now. If we want ya, we'll call ya.

Again, right now this is a downgrade. It can maybe work itself out in the future and whichever AD/Prez is calling the shots on this should be ringing Cal/Ford daily to see what it would take to add them. But it's a downgrade.

I agree the timing on this sucked for them. That does not disprove my point though. The B12 may have been a go after (IF) the ACC crumbles and a few join the B12. But that's not happening anytime soon it appears.

I still say calling Cal/Ford everyday and reminding them travel is better is the first play. Maybe asking them if adding someone like Rice (academics) helps at all.

Did not realize the exit fee situation. Thanks for explaining that. I’m surprised they didn’t grab UNLV to be honest. Vegas seems like a good get.

It keeps getting later and later to fill a 12 game schedule. I’m sure something will get figured out but it wouldn’t shock me if multiple 1-AA teams are on those schedules.
For 25
Oregon State has
Cal
Fresno
TT
Oregon
Houston
Wazzu

WSU has
Idaho
San Diego State
North Texas
Virginia
Washington
Oregon State

Rice maybe. But outside if -A&M and Nebraska is baseball a revenue sport? ESPN or fox gonna pay to put that on tv?

They also can do home and home games with each other.

Haha I mean I guess so. Probably isn't a rule about playing the same team twice in the regular season

Who said the Big 12 would kick someone out?

Please explain in one way this is a downgrade for Oregon State and God’s team?
