MICHIGAN Victory Monday

Shockingly no I haven't
Meh, I guess despite that being one of Jason Patric's first movies (1987), his career afterwards had few notable standouts. I'd go with Sleepers (1996) and Narc (2002)

I remember going to see Sleepers with my friends, we were 12/13. The guy selling the tickets wouldn't let us buy them (rated R). Eventually a couple on a date came through, and the guy was like, 6 for Sleepers, our boys will pay for their tickets. And that was good enough.

Still wasn't as good as we were expecting based off of the description (but not a bad movie, mind you, stellar cast):

After a prank goes disastrously wrong, a group of boys are sent to a detention center where they are brutalized. Thirteen years later, an unexpected random encounter with a former guard gives them a chance for revenge.

well the thing with that movie, while creepy as presented, were they mother and son? they were shapeshifters of unknown age. I think they may have been lovers and she was going to go into the body of the girl he started dating, but he caught feelings, it's been a while since i've seen the movie, but I think there was more to it than that.

Yeah there was a strange romantic relationship there w the mother and the son. The mom was jealous of the new girlfriend. IIRC it was a Stephen King flick.

went to a cocktail lounge on Friday

It was a bit up tight and pretentious and going for speakeasy vibe....we were only white people there. We almost left

You had to press a buzzer to be let in

Hostess: Do you have a reservation
Me: No
Hostess: What's the password
Me: No clue, we're here for a drink, didn't know we needed one
Hostess: Mutters something unintelligible.......at this point we were about to turn around leave

Guy behind me in an exasperated voice: It's (I don't recall)

Hear sound door click, lady lets us in and puts as at crappy table right by door despite bar being 1/2 full at best

Drinks were good. The DJ came over to us and chatted us up as well, not sure if we were being too loud and politely were trying to quiet us down, wondering why two white guys where there, or just being friendly in general..

The guy that followed us in didn't stay long with his group of friends, I think he was annoyed with whole set up too. Somehow gets high reviews. Drinks were good, music was good, but very annoying set up
I think the Speakeasie thing has played out. We have one nearby. My BIL thinks its the bees knees, mainly because he's a functional alcoholic. Had to go there for his 50th on Saturday evening. I don't care for mixed drinks so I asked for a beer. They had 4....FOUR options. I asked for a Guiness. Server comes back a few minutes later "um we're all out of Guiness"

Fuck me with a butter knife!

You didn't miss anything and this is coming from a child of the 80's
based off your previous post, this is a man in denial, that asked to have his 50th birthday party at a speakeasy.

I like classic cocktails, I don't need the 1920s cosplay

I actually liked vibe of overall place. Chill, fun music with live dj but music was normal volume..... Just not rest of shenanigans

I went to the bathroom at this place and they had a sign posted about "after 8 o'clock etiquette"

No kids (seems obvious)
Lights are turned down lower
Music is lower
If you were at a table or inside one of the secret booths you had to let your server take care of things and not walk to the bar (again, isn't that what the server is for?

Oh I agree 100%. My wife (his sister) even thinks he has a problem. I can tolerate him, but he is one of these guys that knows about everything and that is sober. After a few drinks he's intolerable.

What pisses me off is he had that gastric bypass surgery in the spring and has lost over 100lbs, but refuses to change his lifestyle.

Oh where to begin.

People who use short cuts to lose weight will almost always gain it back because they don’t know any other way. They put no effort into losing the weight so it really has no positive impact on them. They feel no victory, no hard work was put into it etc…

Morning all

Had a fun time in Vegas. Friday night practically had to drag my friend out of vegas. Told him i was spent and needed to leave soon, ok one more....fine....ok, let's go play some roulette, ok fine. Drink girl comes buy, ok one more...more roulette, finish drink thinking we're going to go, lets go play some craps, sigh, ok fine. Drink girl comes by, ok one more. play craps for while, drink girl comes by, drink girl comes by, "No I'm good"...my buddy, "Ok one more".......I was like dude, I am spent, we need to head out soon.....

Saturday was a bit more tame, went to UNLV game, it was cool to see new stadium, went to mediocore comedy show.....

Sunday watched NFL games, vikings had too much turkey and waited until the 4th quarter to show up. Nursed a few beers mixed in with a lot of water and diet coke, after late games time to get to the airport. When I checked in, I was assigned a middle seat, but in the front of the plane, well front of main cabin and only open seats that werne't middle were in the back, so I kept it. Smart thing as I had the entire row to myself....so that was a perk especially since I bought cheapest ticket available, but I have the airline credit card, so I get treated special.
I was at the unlv game too. Fuck reno!

It could have a positive impact if the person had a coach to teach him new habits and hold him to them until his new habit routines are fully adopted as his standard routines. You're right that if he doesn't have an accountability-buddy to help keep him on track he's doomed to fail.
