Remember yesterday when college football was fun?

We all looked forward to virtually every bowl game, as there weren’t 100 of them.

You didn’t have guys opting out.

Year to year there weren’t many dominant teams that could string it together for a decade. There was a good balance.

Back then New Years Day was chocked full of parades and games that meant something.

I remember.

and ruined it all for a playoff where we get to watch a bunch of blowouts until the final 4 matchup anyway.

It’s still pretty fun … it is more fun when you’re winning. Next year 🙃

Thought this was going to be about Jack Johnson

College football is sill fun...so long as you aren't FSU or Oklahoma.

Hell, even for Oklahoma...you can't tell me you didn't have fun watching your team beat the shit out of Bama.

I can remember the fucking Blue Bonnet Bowl being something.

Getting up early, smelling the black-eyed peas and ham and cornbread cooking. Watching all the parades. Still enjoying the xmas buzz a week later.

Growing up was bad enough....now one of my few passions is a bucket of shit basically. All loyalty is gone, won't be university names someday....it will be sold to some empty corporate shell...nothing to feel pride in.

Always remember...be careful what you wish for, because you might just get it.

It's a little of this and a little of that.

As an Iowa State fan, the Cyclones have been a really fun team to watch since 2017. They literally have a chance to win or lose against every team on their schedule and have won more than they have lost and have been a solid upper level Big XII team since 2017 (including 2020 and 2024 CCG) with the exception of the 2022 Dud season where they finished last in the conference.

Under Coach Campbell, ISU has won in every Big XII Stadium in which he has led the team including @ Oklahoma and @ Texas before they left and vs. new additions @ Cincinnati, @ BYU, @ Houston and @ Utah. He is yet to coach @ UCF, @ Colorado, @ Arizona or @ Ariz. State, but they are coming up sooner or later.

As for Bowls, they are not fun for Iowa State. Usually playing up against better teams, and ISU has not been up for the task - with the exceptions of the 2017 Liberty Bowl win vs. Memphis and the 2021 Fiesta Bowl win vs. Oregon. Hopefully, the Cyclones can beat Miami (Fla.) on Saturday to change my mind a bit about this. Who knows?

I remember (like 2000- recent) always wanting to go to a bowl game. Didn't have the money then to go to any of the decently big bowl games, and they were too far away anyway. Closest one was the one in Charlotte, NC (not quite 3 hours away). Trying to keep up with the names of that damn bowl: Queen City Bowl, Continental Tire Bowl, Meineke Car Care Bowl, Belk Bowl, and now Duke's Mayo Bowl.

I’m not that old.

Remember when you were your moms best friend?

How gay you were?

Shopping, singing and dancing and snipping beans.

That’s how gay most bowl games are.

Nobody cares.

No, I beg to differ. On top of every non-CFP game meaning Jack shit, most of the non-CFP teams have been ravaged by the portal. So not only are the best players out, most teams have also experienced brain-drain from coaching maneuvers.

Exhibitions of lesser-abled programs.

Nothing more.

Meh.

The honks who like what has happened to college football also like to put salt on their rear end and go to the petting zoo. When they are laying in the grass, they was thinking who is the victim here? The animals love it and they have a wonderful time.
