People With Birthdays Right Around Christmas

How did/do you handle it? Did you just get twice the amount of gifts? We’re your siblings like what the hell?

How does it work?
 
My cousin's birthday was on Christmas. When we were younger, it was kind of weird when we had family Christmas, and he kept getting gifts. When I got older, it registered with me why.
 
Mine's in a week. I don't really see how it's different than having it any other time of the year. :ranger:
 
My girlfriend's is Jan 1. So, it's a fun($) time of year
 
December is birthday month in our family. None are on Christmas day so it didn't affect the gift giving, but with my sister in law on the 5th, my wife and 1 son on the 9th, my daughter on the 12th, one of my brothers on the 17th, my mother and MIL on the 18th as well as some very close friends (5th, 8th and 18th) it makes for a busy month.

She screwed her dad.

If she had been born on the 31st he would have been able to claim her a dependent on his tax return for the entire year. By being born on the 1st he had to support her for the full year before he got the deduction. I would never forgive her.

One of my wife's friends got married on Dec 31st and her dad was beaming until I pointed out her new husband got to claim her and he just lost the deduction. I didn't really like her dad so it was kinda fun seeing his reaction....my wife was not amused, however.

I'm not sure how their taxes work exactly. It might not be like ours, deduction wise

This is the part I don’t get. Does Christmas bday kid get double the gifts or just straight up screwed? Do the other kids sit around and watch Christmas kid open double gifts?

Depends on the family I guess. My aunt is a piece of shit in so many ways. I’m just glad my cousin grew up to be successful
 
Wife's birthday is 12/21. She is an only child so every day was special for her growing up, no siblings. I make a point to not just "double up" on gifts for her.

I get her back though by having my birthday on Feb 16. I make sure she doesn't double up my V-day and B-day presents, unless she actually "doubles up" on them. :biggrin:

Screwed, that's what.

Even if they get the same amount of gifts, it's concentrating your awesome days into one week or so. For example, my bday is usually the week before Father's Day. They're both awesome me days, but I wish they were spread out in the year a little bit more.

My wife's birthday is December 15. Then Christmas, then new years, my birthday is January 5. My daughter's birthday is January 13. Our wedding anniversary is January 15. Youngest son's birthday is January 16.

Add in two of three granddaughters born in January and we're pretty much tapped out by the end of January.

Extended family includes my oldest brother's birthday January 6, sister on January 23 and younger brother Feb 2.

Everyone gets separate gifts for birthday and Christmas.
As a kid, me and my brother always had to share one birthday present. That fucking sucked.

I guess y'all like to really celebrate over spring break...or at least at one time you did.

ha! my younger brother and I ALSO share birthdays one day apart. Mine is October 2nd, his is October 3rd (4 years apart). And yes, it sucked having joint birthday parties as kids (although we DID get our own gifts, didn't have to share them), but I'm sure it saved my parents some $$$
