Wednesday New Year's Eve Eve Thread

If you put your info out on Lending Tree or some similar website that claims to “shop around for the best rate” for you - they’re just selling your info to us banks/creating our leads.

You’re better off filling out an online application online or calling a bank directly if you want to avoid the non stop sales calls.
found that out. Got calls for weeks

I did find the lender i used and used for refis however, but what a pain

Same with Angieslist. I was looking for a guy to redo my steps, I got about half dozen calls within minutes. One guy got really pissed at me when I told him I selected a guy, apparently it was my fault he paid $50 for the lead and didn't even to get bid on it despite me shutting it down as quick as I could

It's going to be a bit interesting when we decide to upgrade the family car. My car is a Mazda 3, which is fine for like one car seat, but do I want the bigger car with more hauling capabilities and keep the Outback? If I'm barely driving like I am now, I might keep the Outback just because it'd be nice to have the roof rack and trailer hitch for things like going on bike rides or going up to the mountains for snowboarding. We'll probably have a bigger SUV anyway, so I don't know how important that will even wind up being.
if the new mazda3 hatch wasn't so ugly, I'd consider mazda3 hatch turbo as my next car, but I do not like the look of it

My brother called last night. He was out ice fishing and fell on the ice while running over to check on a tip-up rod. Broke his leg Theismann-esque. Tibia and fibia snapped. Splint for now until the swelling goes down a bit, boot in a couple days, then surgery next Tuesday.

Said when he stood up and tried to take a step on it, he could feel his leg mush further down into his boot. *shudders*

Damn!!!

Also have to think of dependability and reliability. An outback imo (though I've never owned one) seem like they have BOTH

SA might be getting a Mazda CX5

Mild snow last night.

The broad is driving a Subaru Ascent as a courtesy car while hers is being fixed. Its a pretty sweet car and now she hates hers because of it.

Yeah. I haven't had to put much money in either car, actually. Just had to put a new battery in the Mazda this weekend. Leaning towards the Outback for now, but there are a couple minor quibbles I have. The engine on the Outback burns about a quart or so of oil between changes. Also, the Bluetooth system in the Outback blows. The Mazda one is really nice.

One other thing I will be considering is that the Mazda might have less than half the mileage on it that the Outback has when we decide to get a new ride. Hopefully, the decision is more than a few years away.

Wife has been eye-humping one of those since they came out. She wanted the Outback the last time we bought a car, now she wants more seating.

My last car was an Elantra. Part of the reason I bought it was because my sister had an Accent that she didn't take care of, and it lasted over 100K miles. I figured if she could beat the hell out of it and it still ran, the next car up should last. Think it was close to 200K miles and still running when we traded it in for the Outback.

She wanted the outback, but the smaller forester was better for her. The Ascent is pretty nice. She was actually saying she really liked the bluetooth in it.

She also said she wanted it as her mom car...

I have a 4-door. I like how the 3 drives. We had one as a rental on vacation once, and I liked it a lot.

Daughter's Outback has over 225 K miles on it. But it leaks oil and radiator fluid like a sumbitch. I added both when I was visiting.
