Jim Brown the GOAT

Those are both great picks, but Emmitt has more SB rings than both put together and has the most rushing yards in history of the game. IMO, that puts him at the top of the mountain. The mountain GOAT.

No......

Rings are a team concept......Hell,put Sanders on that team, youd get the same result....Payton too.

You don't know that. Pure speculation.

100% factual, however, is Emmitt Smiths numbers, thus making him the GOAT.

Yes I do know that.....

prove it. it's an opinion, nothing more. Injuries, decrease in talent on new team, etc...all factors that blow your assumption out of the water. Emmitt Smith = #1 based on facts. Things that are real.

I can't call Emmitt the greatest of all time. His career rushing average is 4.2. That's tied for 112th all time. He averaged 81.2 yard per game, 16th all time.

Any comparison is subjective, but do you think Emmitt would be the rb he was behind Paytons and Barrys teams......?

Its subjective, but Id really really have to guess.........

No

You have Barry Sanders. Then you have everyone else.

Jim Brown was the GOAT though, just ask him.

How is it wrong, faggot? Does he not have more SB's? Does he not own the rushing title.

Case closed, the end.
He is the most overrated RB in NFL history. Just a fact dude.

Wrong. Your opinion isn't fact. What IS a fact, is that he's all time rushing leader.

Another fact, he's got many SB rings...FACT.

Just because he's the rushing champ doesn't make him the GOAT. Kareem's the all time leading scorer in the NBA. How many call him the GOAT? The *Steroid in the Bay* Barry Bonds is the so-called HR king. And nobody in their right mind has ever called him the GOAT.

But back to Emmitt. Like I already mentioned his career rushing average of 4.2 is only good for 112th all time. And his 81.2 yard per game is only good for 16th.

You mentioned rings. This should put things into perspective. If you wanna judge a player by rings than that must mean Trent Dilfer > Dan Marino. Right?

rings help... no doubt. longevity, a desire to play to the finish, incredible championship mindset...all things that accentuate his GOATness.

I have often wondered how amazing Sanders would have been behind that Dallas O-line. A lot of people say that Detroit's O-line sucked, but that isn't true. Detroit, during Sanders' 10 year career, had a very decent O-line except for a couple years.

Dallas had what might have been the greatest O-line in history during Smith's time there. That and also having a HoF QB and a HoF WR and a very good TE and other receivers ...

I honestly think that if Sanders would have played for the Plowboys, he would have ran for well over 2,000 yards every season. This also takes into account that Dallas was much more of a run first team than Detroit.

The Best 5 RBs my eyes have ever seen in my football viewing life:
1 - Barry Sanders
2 - Adrian Peterson
3 - LaDainian Tomlinson
4 - Marshall Faulk
5 - Emmitt Smith

HM - Thurman Thomas, Curtis Martin

Emmitt's longevity is impressive no doubt. But he was running on empty towards the end of his career. His last 4 years, yards per carry- 3.9, 3.8, 2.8, 3.5. He averaged at least 5 yards per carry only once in his career.

Now compare that to Barry. He averaged at least 5.0 ypc 4 times. And in '97 averaged 6.1 ypc. He never averaged below 4.3 ypc in any season. Barry's career rushing average- 5.0.

Emmitt averaged 4.3 ypc in a season (or lower) 12 times. Including the last 9 years of his career.

Average yards per carry is not impressive despite playing behind a solid OL. Not even in my top five.

Or ask his wife. She'll be too scare to tell you otherwise.

I did get to see Brown play. 9 year career. 9 Pro Bowls, 8 years all-Pro, 7 years over 1000 yards(other years better than 940), yards per carry was 5.2 for his career.

Also, what makes the 1000 yard seasons so great is that they only played 12 game season for half his career. 14 game season for the rest. His yards per game was over 104.

The dude just was perfect for the time he played.

He was also as big or bigger than more than half the linebackers he played against.

He was a great RB and in my top 5, but not the goat by any stretch.

Jim Brown is acknowledged by his peers as the GOAT.
