That’s terrible. That’s a lot of loss of life in a single accident.

But how is it even possible to get that many people in an SUV?

We’ve had 8 people in a nice RV headed to a race and that ride felt crowded

Ford Expedition was broadside by Gravel truck. Dont know if SUV pulled out in front of them.

The destruction was kind of like when the junior hockey team (Humboldt Broncos) in Saskatchewan got nailed by a semi last year.

Except they were on a bus and the semi ran the stop sign.

27 people in a car sounds like something we'd do in college to save on a ride to the bar

But in this case, the stop sign was on the Expedition side. Appears they either ran it or pulled out without realizing they couldn't make it.

Human Trafficking.

Considering they've called in the Mexican Government for help in identification and Border Patrol has impounded the car, I'd say close.

Additionally, people from the ag community there say the farms send workers around in buses, not massive numbers in cars.

It was also interesting to read that some took off running as the police and emergency pulled up.

Hate to speculate, but it happens a lot around here with chicken trucks. Take a big gamble to get in front of the slow big rig so you won’t be stuck behind them. They don’t stop too good.

Had a lot of close calls with idiots pulling out in front of me when I was pulling around a 7 ton drill. I imagine it’s a lot worse for big rigs

The article I linked has a map of the area.

The truck was headed north. The SUV was headed west. The SUV was struck broadside on the driver side.

So I wonder at what point all those people impact the braking of the vehicle. Assuming most of those 27 were teens or adults, that could be 4000 to 5000 pounds. I don't know many F150's or Expeditions that can handle two tons in the passenger/cargo area.

About the only good news so far is that the "children" have been age 16, up.

We had a 1996 8 passenger Suburban and I cannot begin to imagine how you get half that many people in there.

27 people in one SUV. How?

Mexicans?

HammerDown takes exception to you leaving Puerto Ricans out as a possibility.

I was going to "like" the post but the whole story is not likeable....
