Life isn’t leaving much time for Hoopiness these days. I’m not up on the latest. So, clarify this - the consensus of the Shift is that Hammer is Shaggy, it’s all a ruse, and the Nation was manifested during a manic phase?

Yea, well our rattlesnakes will kick your rattlesnakes assess.

I don't know what the venomous snake are in California, although I know there are rattlers here.
I do know the ones in Kentucky: rattlesnake, copperhead, and water moccasin, at least that's what I was taught as a kid.
While I'm not one who is really afraid of snakes, just the thought of a water moccasin has always freaked me out.
It was never enough to stop me from goin' in the creek, but the one time I thought I saw a snake slither into the water, I shrieked, ran from the creek, and didn't stop until I was back at the house and inside.
That's also the place where I learned why snapping turtles were called snapping turtles.

I have shared that fear. I'm good with snakes on land because I can get away from them fairly easy... Water not so much. And there are lotsssss of moccasins around here.

I think we have six venomous snakes in Alabama.... Moccasins, copperheads, eastern diamondback rattlesnakes, timber rattlesnakes, pygmy rattlesnakes, and eastern coral snakes. Moccasins are by far the most common in this area.

I guess my mama figured the important thing for me to learn was if it rattled, get the fuck away.
I'm not sure why I think this, it may not even be correct, but I think the further south one gets, the more prevalent water moccasins are.
