bingo... though it is more exercise than sitting and watching reruns of some shitty show.
it's all relative. would one be better off bowling 3 games and drinking 2 pitchers of beer or sitting home watching tv with no pitchers?

just a random example...

.... But why?

Let's be honest, if you were going to drink two pitchers at bowling, you were probably going to drink some on the couch.

We're doing an "all-star" game for tee ball tomorrow night. Combining the four teams in the league into two teams, and letting them play a couple innings. Will be an exercise in keeping these kids' attention, for sure.
Oh hell no. That’s sounds like you may as well be herding cats.

No idea, probably not though. We're lucky to even get a play that comes close to an out.
When Deuce plays first we can get 4-5 outs per inning. Anyone else and we are lucky to get 1 out. These damn kids all seem to hit well but can’t throw/catch for shit. It’s like they never go out in the yard and toss the ball around.

Probs.

Never done it before, if it's a disaster we don't do it again. Either way, I'm out of tee ball next season anyway so it's another coach's headache.

morning all

we got crushed in lawn bowling, we started out up 5-2 after the 5th end, but it was all downhill after that, I think we lost 16-6. One of my teammates had maybe 2 throws that stayed inbounds, it was bad. Of our 6 points I scored 3 of them, but I was generally pretty terrible

But none of us have really lawn bowled before, I think I did at bar once on their rooftop, but I'm going on think as memory is fuzzy for unknown reason
Is lawn bowling different than bocce ball?

Yeah, some of it's tough. Losing last season definitely hurt these kids' development. I saw some things from Ham that she wasn't doing wrong with her swing at the end of 2019 that she did for the first half of the season this year. Admittedly, I haven't had her in the back yard hitting the ball much, but when we were doing it after the 2019 season, she was starting to hit balls into the neighbors' yard.

First drill of the first practice is running to first base, and I bring it up every time a batter comes up for the first couple games.
I am the 1B coach during games. Getting to it slide into 1st, run through the bag, and turn off to the dugout side is an every inning struggle. I’ve got 2 kids that do it right so far. If I can get it to 5 or 6 by the end of the year I’m going to be ecstatic.

holy shit your schools end late. Been out for 3 weeks here.
Lil’ Kobe goes until Friday.

You start in August down there? We don’t start until after Labor Day.

There's an Italian club a couple blocks from me, and they have a few courts set up. I see plenty of 30's-40's aged guys playing
We play bocce all the time when camping. And a buddy of mine used to hold an annual bocce tournament back in our 20’s. I was 1 toss away from winning the gold jacket one year. Still pissed at myself.

Rails on people for sitting on the couch, also rails on people for not just sitting on bat stools.

Classic #douchelogic
Lawn bowling / Bocce is like a pushup bra.

Just fraudin.

I was able to get kids to actually make turns to round bases this year. I consider that a major win.

Deuce moves to machine pitch next year I think. Thank goodness because I’ve developed the yips trying to pitch to these kids. I’ve switched to underhand after I couldn’t stop hitting the batters.

We got to have a season last year. Not in our normal town, but in the town we live in. (We live in a section of a town who goes to another school district, so our schools/sports are always in a town we don’t live in.)

So I’m trying to give the rest of the kids a break, but it is frustrating.

My dad had some sort of complex when he pitched to me. He'd be so focused on watching my swing that he'd throw pitches at me. He told me if I didn't want to get hit, I should stop doing whatever it was that I was doing wrong. I think at one point, he was trying to get me to stop bailing out when I swung.
