Pull the fucking screws out. Pre drill further in, and put new screws in. Get 2 inch, galvanized #8 screws. Sounds like you are in the studs, which is good, but if you don't drill in far enough, the screw bottoms out. If the head is stripped, and the bracket is not tight it will wobble in the wind and be all fucky till it falls off.
You need to drill in far enough. If you put the screw next to the drill bit, you can mark the drill bit with a sharpie, or tape, so you know when it has gone in deep enough. Then a decent quality exterior, galvanized wood screw, won't strip out, and will be there until you decide you don't want it anymore.
