Personally, I'd like to see this happen. The NCAA FBS needs a GOOD 'shakin' up and THIS would certainly fit the bill. :heh:

I certainly don't blame Oklahoma/Texas for wanting to do this. Sure, there's the behind-the-scenes politics and money-grab behind this along with some collateral damage too. So, what's new?

But... Why Not? It's not like they don't bring anything to the table at SEC. Let's see what happens.

There's just a lot of 'butt hurt' going on right now and there's gonna be an even BIGGER 'butt-hurt' if/when this finally takes place.

So, for me... IF it actually happens, I'm gonna sit back and watch the moaning. groaning and gnashing of teeth in the Big12. :drink:

Gonna be very interesting over the next week or so... :rolleyes2:

look man either you have the juice or you don't and end up playing MN, NW, IA..

As far as the cross over, the Texas insider only talked about Texas.. I'm sure ou will get a crossover, maybe it will be GA or something.. just like it makes sense for LSU and FL to keep theirs..

The ones offering UT and ou more money to stay in the Big 12 are Baylor and Tech for sure.. Doesn't matter, this thing is already set and Gov Hot Wheels is all for it.

'Official' SEC invite this week then?

it's baby steps.. this week UT and ou will announce that it will not re-sign the GOR when it is up.. after that SEC will announce that they have requested membership into the conference. With that alone.. schools in the Big12 will begin to look for other spots elsewhere.

SEC will accept, and one way or the other UT/ou will begin SEC play during the 2021-2022 sports year

Of course OU is going to lose more games in the SEC than it does in the Big XII. And the conference championships will come less often. But the playoffs are going to be easier for OU to get into now (12 teams instead of 4 teams and no need to run the table) and that's going to give Oklahoma a puncher's chance to win NC's. Our recruiting will get even better and the money will be rolling in. Gotta expect the occasional loss when you're running a gauntlet instead of a Big XII schedule. It's all good. Also looking forward to seeing how all the existing SEC schools do against Oklahoma and Texas when we're all playing each other on a consistent basis.

The question id like pondered is, 'If Texas decides to stay in the Big 12, is there any chance Oklahoma would still leave?'

I've wondered if it's truly a package deal.

The rhetoric I've read is that 'Both OU and TX have reached out to the SEC'. Not necessarily that they did it together.

It's a great move for OU, bar none. Get the fuck out of that mess ASAP. They will inevitably go broke trying to keep up with the SEC/Big 10 under the current Big 12 business model.

However, for tejas they'll lose the over 100 years of big dawg influence they've had over the SWC and Big 12.
A massive culture shock when someone from the SEC tells them to "Sit the fuck down and STFU'
Texas was getting appx $35 million a year in Big 12 revenue + $15 million a year from LHN. That's $50 million.

i.e. $6 million more than current SEC payouts and just $4 million shy of Big 10 payouts.

If other Big 12 schools are willing to give them a bigger slice of the pie, tejas could easily be in the $70 million/yr range next year by staying put.

You can count on the SEC now taking 4-6 playoffs spots every year

probably 14-0 or 13-1 for both.

When does the LHN contract expire?

Well if that's the case we know where KU's going. That one is not in doubt.
Welcome to the Big 10, Beakers.

Heck. You can have up to 3 losses and get into a 12 team P/O.

Oklahoma - 14-0

Texas - 13-1
This^
Both brands are cash cows and all members want money (never forget ca$h is the ONLY reason schools have football programs to begin with). A&M would vote no knowing full well everyone else is voting yes on Texas and how much $ they are gonna bring and that’s just ego/hate so it’s cool.

o brother where art thou GIF

So if/when this happens, does the BIG counter with Notre Dame/USC coming to its conference to try n keep pace financially?
