this shit got kicked off when OU sued the NCAA way back for TV rights, we still paying for that in ways you wouldn't believe :dhd:

...then ESPN had to fuck everything up with the exclusive SEC deal. THIS is when what you're talking about happened.

The Midwest ends in Iowa.

North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and at least northern Texas is the 'Great Plains'.

The Iowa Nebraska border became the cot damned Frontier.

Far western Nebraska has a landmark called 'Chimney Rock'. The Mormons made a BIG deal out of reaching it in their wagon trains.
Not because they thought it was a cool landmark.
It was because they were thinking "Thank God we're almost outta this mother fucker.

The Midwest settled their differences with lawyers and judges. On the Great Plains differences were settled on the spot, THEN you went to see the judge to splain the situation en sech.

Why not call Ohio the far West because it was exactly at one time in like the 1700s.
 
If the Ohio-Lower Missouri-Mississippi River drains your ground, you are Midwest. Great Plains is a subdivision.

This shit hasn't been about "pride" for like 50 years. It's money. It's been about money for a long ass time. From the time the game popped up on the pictured tube box, its been about money. Some of y'all need to wake up. The only difference now, because of NIL and the fact they'll eventually have to pay the players, the conferences no longer have to pretend it was about amateurism, pride, school spirit, or whatever fairy tale front they came up with. They can't hide behind the mask anymore. So they're just going ahead and making the necessary moves (basically setting themselves up to tell the NCAA to fuck off) so they can position themselves for more money. They gotta split the pie now so to keep their appetites satisfied, they have to make a bigger pie.

Judges and lawyers fix things Monday-Friday. The weekends are a different story. As for Nebraska, your Wild West starts well west of Lincoln. And yes I have seen Chimny Rock.
