Good group although I have to admit that I'm not familiar with Ryan Gosling by name. :noidea:

I do think that Anthony Hopkin's major studio roles in recent years all revolved around sinister characters.

I'd add Michael Caine to the old boys clubs too.

Although I obviously posted this for the laugh and I haven't seen the film in over a decade I do recall that Dafoe is very very good in it. Greg Kinnear was somewhat surprisingly good too.

"Blue Valentine" is probably my favourite Ryan Gosling performance. It's a wonderfully acted movie all around, really (even if it's not a fun one).
 
Not as big a name and not a guy who is going to headline or carry a blockbuster film but currently I think that Matthew Rhys does exceptional work.

Anthony Hopkins is in a movie with Ryan Gosling actually and it is really good. It is called Fracture.
