Who’s the most beloved athlete in your state?

That’s a “fact” that no one other than a Red Sox homer would agree with.

3 rings compared to none is not a “fact”?

btw… still waiting for you to show me where I said all those things.

it’s not just the play on the field. It’s leadership. I keep pointing it out and the silence back is deafening. Bonds was Stand-offish with the media and his own teammates. He’s the epitome of a “me@ guy but go ahead and ignore ALL that.
But who is saying Bonds was the most beloved athlete anywhere, let alone his state? We all know Bonds is an asshole and had terrible relationships with the media and his teammates so who cares about "leadership"? Nobody is trying to say he should get a humanitarian award, but he was a bad ass baseball player and much more complete than that half-assing Ortiz.

Baseball is the ultimate me team sport. You don’t have to get along with your teammates or have any chemistry with them other than pitcher and catcher. Bonds was a me player, but he was the reason his teams were competitive. Him getting on base at a clip we’ll probably never see again and hitting more homers than anyone ever helped the team. Baseball is a game that’s essentially pitcher vs batter. Bonds won his matchups more times than not, not his fault his teammates couldn’t carry their weight

chemistry doesn’t matter in baseball? You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. If that’s true then why don’t the Yankees (who have the best players) win every year? Chemistry matters a LOT. Chemistry and character matter much more than you think so

It’s why Jeter was way more important to those Yankees teams than arod. Arod is clearly the more TALENTED guy but he was a cancer on every team he played for.

Rings are a team accomplishment. Lets compare MVPs. Who got more of those?

really? You don’t think the Red Sox championship teams say “Ortiz put us on his back”? You think that’s just me being a homer?

Gee, you would think a great player with all those MVPs would have won a championship wouldn’t you? You’d think that his teammates would at least like him enough to follow him wouldn’t you?

Keep ignoring the elephant in the room.

So long as you continue to not understand the concept of team sports, I’m game.

Bonds was on base a ton and hit a ton of homers. What was he supposed to do?

ya see… when you consistently perform in the clutch your teammates tend to believe in you. It makes them believe that they can win no matter what the odds or situation. Add in that you are approachable/likable and you’ve got the makings of a leader.

But keep blaming bonds teammates for his shortcomings in clutch situations. That’s what he did and he obviously has you well trained.

be a leader.
How? He did his job, was he supposed to threaten the batters behind him? I think he needed better players around him. Those Giants teams were basically Bonds, Jeff Kent and Jason Schmidt. No Manny, Pedro, Schilling, Lester, Beckett, Pretoria, etc

how to be a leader? Wow… you are young.

Btw… Ortiz did win a championship without ANY of those guys

Ted Williams was a hero of two wars. I’d say he probably had great leadership, but yet, no rings.

Ortiz was a great hitter on a lot of stacked teams. Barry was the best hitter baseball has seen in the era of integration on a team that lacked star power outside of Barry

he was respected more than bonds. Probably bc of his on the field performance and off the field life.
Williams was every bit as much of an asshole as Bonds. They got to an equal number of World Series and Bonds dramatically outperformed him there. Try again.
