Long Island not gonna be so long after Henri gets through with it.
Yeah... Just got a BLARING "Alert" on my cellphone declaring we are now under a Hurricane Warning here in coastal Rhode Island. Irony is that 30 years ago, on August 19, 1991, Hurricane Bob came roaring through. The Cape Cod area got hit the hardest tho. That's because their "ass" is hanging way out in the North Atlantic!! :heh:

I guess we have been "due" for one, though. Glad I've waited to restock the freezer until this is over. Power outages are prevalent in most of RI in storms. I'm luckier than most as I live in an area on the electrical grid that supplies the local hospital's electricity. It's always one of the biggest priorities to be restored.

How far away are you from the shore? They're also saying there will be a significant storm surge.

I have a condo here in Newport, RI, which is 3 blocks from Newport Harbor and about 6 blocks from the Narragansett Bay. My car never has to move much during the good weather months here. I can pretty much walk anywhere I need to go in this small city.

My condo is on the 4th floor of a pretty solid brick building. There is a 3-5 ft "storm surge warning" potential for us Weird thing is that tonight or tomorrow night is a FULL Moon going on, that should prove interesting on the "surge" impact. :noidea:

We've gotten some pretty good "street flooding" occasionally, but it's not that often. I'm never been worried about possible flooding in my area. It's the power outages that REALLY freakin' annoy me!! :heh:

I read about that. The tide is going to be exceptionally high and the surge will come in right over that high tide.

Good luck.

CALM before the STORM ... One view of Newport Harbor from the Skiff Bar at the Marriott Newport... Beautiful day out today. Gonna be UGLY tomorrow, though, when "Henri" comes to town! :drink:

They fuggin feel like I'm wearing 3D glasses er some shit. Good Lord they are awful!?
I'm sked for cataract surgery first week of October, cuz I'm dayum near blind in muh right eye and the left one is goin, also.

I've been dealin with this crap for over a year and it's gotten to the point it's impossible to drive at nite.

They gave me three options for the new lenses they gonna put in muh eyeballs and the 'corrective measures' they offer. Two were covered by insurance, the third option wasn't. So, I'm forced to tell them I want to be, basically, near-sighted or far-sighted - I will still need some sorta glasses. I chose the far-sighted option, so I'll need glasses to read & see shet up close.

I'm just tired of dealin with this shet and want to be able to see again.

You still alive over there?

Looks like Henri is gonna hit the tiny bullseye that is Rhode Island shortly. :rain:

I enjoyed Newport the couple of times I was there.

Is Senor Frogs still there? :drink:

Stay safe & dry.

My dad had cataract surgery a few years ago and he said the immediate difference was amazing
Ma had both eyes done a couple of years ago and, yes, big difference.

I guess it runs in muh fam?

You aren’t that old though either ? My mom has some cataracts but really slow and hasn’t needed surgery, my dads happened really fast. Ive been lucky with everything so far, still have better than 20/20 vision last time I went to eye doctor.
