Just turned 50, so I'm starting to plan things like I won't actually die in my office.

Anyone have any hot tips?

@HammerDown , you're in the Caribbean aren't ya? What part?

We've taken some trips to Belize and have one scheduled for Costa Rica this summer to scope things out.

Soooo many places to go. For me it's all about getting what I want for the best possible value.

@TigerBait1971 we were in the Caribbean for almost three years but now somewhere else.
Drop me a PM if you are comfortable sharing your experience.

We are thinking down there or some middle of nowhere USA with a lake.

Still haven't ruled out living on a trawler down on the Intracoastal, but the wife needs more convincing on that one.

I don't think I'll ever retire. My grandpa is pushing 80 and still works full time and not because he has to, and I take after him a lot.

If I live long enough, they'll find me dead in a rock quarry when I'm 80.

If I have a change of heart, probably some place like Harlan, KY. Land is pretty and cheap

Already did, 6 and 6, IL and Florida.

I hate IL.

IF I live long enough to retire, it depends on the wife. If she's still around, we'll probably stay in the Northeast. If not, i'd like to move to the Southwest.

Our last trip was to Kona, but we also made it over to the Hilo side. Also have been to Oahu and Kauai, which was my favorite.
I like Kauai a lot as well. I’m not much of a Maui or Oahu fan comparatively, but there is a lot more to do on Oahu.

Hawaii is expensive isn't it?

Or that's the impression I have, which could be totally wrong.
