NL MVP

That’s a fine award for him. But, MVPs don’t go 0-14 with 6 k’s with their team’s season on the line
so you are basing it on the last week of the season, not the whole season?

if Harper isn't on the Phillies, they don't even come close to a winning record

what is more valuable a measurement than that?

Games that matter the most get the most weight.

incorrect.

a win is a win is a win and they all help in the end
And Harper wasn’t valuable enough to get his team the most wins in the division. Phillies could have extended the NL’s longest playoff drought without him. Pressure was high, he came up small.

"only playoff teams can have MVPs" - Chewy

nope

"only playoff teams can have MVPs" - Chewy

nope
Ain’t how it is, but how it should be. Goldy, Muncy, Crawford and Riley. One of those 4 should get it

Anyone who says that a player on a team that misses the playoffs isn't valuable at all has never had to put together an entire team worth of PAs and innings over 162 games and seen how big a hole a player having a great season fills in any lineup.

They can be valuable, just not most valuable. Going by bWAR, Braves miss the playoffs without Riley

i think Harper should win it, but i'm now questioning that stance
Of the 3 finalists, I’d give it to Harper because at least the Phillies had a winning record even though Soto had the best individual season of the 3

i would give it to Harper b/c he was the only player in the NL that finished with an 1.000+ OPS

So if the Braves had won the division by more Riley would become less deserving? That seems kind of silly to me.

In addition, Harper could have gone 14 for 14 instead of 0 for 14 in that late season series and it still wouldn't have made up the 6.5 games that the Phillies missed by.

No, he didn’t do anything but produce all season, even when the season was on the line and he was the best player on a playoff team. Crawford, Muncy and Goldy all have legit cases too. Don’t come up small when your season is on the line
