Love that argument even though Pac 12 after dark beats the door off of every other thing on cable Saturday night. Is it ideal, but tv rights are tv rights. You can’t pay X to the SEC or B1G then pay the Pac to play in the same time slot. Having a good Pac 12 game on on the early spot for Fox or Mickey Mouse isn’t good for their other deals. Hence while people hate the NCAA, college football needs a legit governing body with rules and not have individual states dictating legislation.

So basically playing minor league football with zero affiliations to universities? Kill the NCAA and you kill college athletics. Football is number 1 for sure but you can’t possibly have the school spending 99% of their resources on football outside the NCAA then expect to allow other sports to be allowed back under the umbrella. Reform the NCAA and reinstate the power they had to wear they can implode conferences, create schedules, make the deals with the tv networks. Essentially fire all conference commissioners and put them in charge of the NCAA. Close and lock the door behind them and in a couple of hours a bloody person will emerge as the NCAA commissioner.

I didn’t say zero affiliation to universities. The néw union will have power to negotiate federally. The states will have to comply or not join the union. And they’re not going to do that.
They wouldn’t want to disrupt anyhow, because the cfbu is going to be a windfall for the schools as they will be able to earfuck the media for broadcast rights, etc

What we haven't seen is that with any other program in the PAC.

Maybe I'm off but that conference needs SC to carry the weight for it to be viable.. and I say this from watching afar.. I used to stay up late to see SC games on Saturday nights when I lived in VA.

Maybe not so much ''carry the weight'', as much as USC is the conferences only true ''blue blood'' football school. So, when USC is good, more people are watching and the conference gets more attention.
