It has. The open portal bullshit is making it even worse. COVID my ass.
Dumbasses were so anxious to fuck with the old system and now I barely even know who's playing in what.

Oh, but expanding the playoff would help doe? It will be more like da NFL! Stupids. :finger2:

The Rose Bowl fucked CFB numerous times.

It was a good place for the Big 10 and PAC to hide.

The bowl season was pretty much shot before the playoffs. The ever increasing amount of games doesn't help. The tie ends are too long. The SEC and Big 10 tie ends with two bowl games in Florida have become boring. Same game, year after year after year. Not enuf variety. I don't even bother to find out when they are being played.
The portal bullshit is a new problem now and in the future. Didn't have that before. For whatever reasons were used, the opt outs was/ is a problem now and some in the past. A big thing is the turnover in coaches between the end of the regular season and the bowl games.
Bowl games have been in the decline before the playoffs. It's still CFB, but I haven't watched bowl games for the last few years. Haven't watched any this season and don't plan on any.

The Rose Bowl was hyped by B1G retards when they needed something to cling for pride. If other cities had a big parade n shit for their bowl game, CFB would be way more awesome.

Of course, you can't really have a big parade in NOLA cuz everyone would get shot. But other cities could have tried to build a cool tradition like that. I'm sure Pasadena started that to promote the area so more people would move there. Now, everybody is moving South anyway and it's too fucking crowded.

"I haven't watched bowl games for the last few years. Haven't watched any this season and don't plan on any."

My policy is (and has always been) to watch as many as I can, for when bowl games are done it's a near 8 month hiatus until CFB returns in September.

To be fair they have a big parade in NOLA every year. It's just not related to CFB.

Yeah, It's still CFB, just not interested in watching. Keep up with them in the various pick'em things, just don't care about watching. I'll get my final football fix with the 3 playoff games.

Bowls were originally exhibition games. They didn’t count towards final rankings. They have returned to that and it happened years ago. There is no saving them, it’s time to just move on. Time to move to a 12 team playoff for the NC. Maybe do a NIT style 8 team playoff. 2 things destroyed bowls. 1 players opting out and having 70-80 teams in bowls. There are too many too make them interesting. ESPN’s demand for content gave fans about 10-15 bowls they never wanted to see and it had killed the excitement around going to a bowl

I agree with your point about 'tie ins'. They should get rid of them.

As a Nebraska fan who hasn't seen his team go to a bowl in 5 years, I'm still a CFB fan first and foremost.

I do not attend weddings on Saturdays in the fall. "Congrats and check yourn mailbox for a gift-card".
I tell every woman I've been with from the onset that CFB in the fall is "my time". That's all day Saturdays and Thursday evenings with occasional Tues, Wed, Fridays. That's about 16 full days, and another 25 or so evenings. So about 40 days of CFB time.
She can have the other 325 days to plan my days and nights.
If that's not going to work for her than so be it. C-Ya!!

ESPNs power grab and two-year starters worried about their draft placement ruined bowl season.

Back in the day we had..what, MAYBE 10 bowls? Welp...y’all’s masters the mommyship know a $ potential when they see it. How many SEC teams get bowl eligible on all those soft-ass games? Who has the ability to create a bowl for every one of them?

Hope you’re happy.

You want to cut down the number of opt-outs? Then get a rule in place that says if you opt out you are OUT. No more use of the training table, facilities, anything. Oh there might be some medical service provided for a lingering injury but no more working out or eating on the school's dime. Go spend some of that NIL money on a gym membership or whatever floats your boat. Or you can stay for the bowl game and everything is cool until you leave school.

The answer is simple. Players are actually making a logical decision. Risk future money and draft position in a bowl or sit out. Players don’t sit out of playoff games. Why? Because they deem them worth the risk. I don’t blame. Basketball players don’t opt out of the NCAA tournament, despite being lower seeded and having minuscule odds of winning a trophy. Give players what they want, meaningful post season games and they will play.

Good point. While low, they still have a shot so they play.

Expanding the playoffs will help cutdown on opt outs as there will be more meaningful games. Arguing expanding the playoffs wont help is retard logic.

Argue away Juicy.

Need fan interaction bowl games IMO. Sponsor puts up the money, fans vote online for the desired match ups then split the money up between participating players.

OK, change the number of teams in the playoff; I'm all for that for a number of reasons. But if you opt out you should be OUT. Period.
