Seems like the "parity" is an illusion.

No such thing as parity in college football. You have roughly 8-10 teams with a legit shot to make the CFP each year and maybe 2 or 3 with a legit shot to win a national title.Seems like the "parity" is an illusion.
I mean, Cincy looked more the part than UM. Maybe we need more G5 in the playoffsSeems like the "parity" is an illusion.
Actually would in the sense you wouldn't have over a month to prep for one opponent.A 16 team playoff will fix this
I think it would probably keep kids from opting outActually would in the sense you wouldn't have over a month to prep for one opponent.
Parity only exists below the very top of the food chain. Throw out the elite teams, and the rest can probably mixed and matched without a lot of difference. At least that is the way it seems.Seems like the "parity" is an illusion.

Right? We’ve had like two good semi final games in the history of the playoff, can’t find 4 great teams in a given year, but everyone insists we need to expand the playoff…Seems like the "parity" is an illusion.
Been seeing a lot of people saying it's almost best to just ignore the elite haves of college football/stop looking at it through the lens of the playoff because once you get past them there's just so much craziness and fun, wild games. Like instead of being mad that only like four teams regularly have a shot to win a title each year go enjoy McElwain getting dumped with Frosted Flakes after winning the Sun Bowl, and honestly they're not wrong.Parity only exists below the very top of the food chain. Always was. The only thing the playoff has prevented is controversy between #2 and #3 that happened every 7-8 years under the old format.Seems like the "parity" is an illusion.
It would keep the best team from winning though.
Teams like A&M could beat Bama and Georgia, but then would turn around and lose to Cincy.
Yup. An expanded playoff does nothing Until the talent gap doesn’t exist like it does. Michigan recruits really well. But we don’t recruit anywhere in the ballpark of Georgia. There used to be not a huge difference between top 15 classes and top 5 classses, not so much anymore. This is why I’ve changed my opinion of Staying with 4 to expanding. If you guarantee at least 1 team from every region of the country a spot in the Playoff then all the top recruits will be more inclined to stay home in their region. At just 4 they are all going to Bama/UGA/Ohio State/Clemson
For comparison, Georgia took in 20 five star recruits in the last 4 recruiting cycles. 41 top 100 players. 1/2 of their team is comprised of top 100 players. Michigan has a total of 7 top 100 players in the same four year cycle.
It’s really these 4 teams, with two fringe teams and then everyone else. That’s crazy.
Who does the recruiting for Michigan?Yup. An expanded playoff does nothing Until the talent gap doesn’t exist like it does. Michigan recruits really well. I don’t know what the solution is but we’re going to keep seeing 3-4 teams dominate the sport until that’s spread out more.
