Good Tuesday Morning

What in holy hell is wrong with people?
This one in particular is an alcoholic narcissist who doesn't believe he's ever done anything wrong. That was actually diagnosed in a psych evaluation during his case.

I hope you are armed.

Or he's an extremely butthurt dude who lost everything in his divorce because he cheated on his wife...can't blame himself, so blame the lawyer lady so he can feel like a man again.
Custody case in which mid-case he got arrested for driving drunk with his kid in his car. The kid actually tattled on him at whatever store they were at and said, "My dad is driving me around in this snow storm and he's drunk."

Somehow not being able to get him full custody was my fault.

This doesn't sound very "Minnesota Nice"™.
He probably doesn't even remember sending the emails. That would make it even more satisfying when he gets served with the HRO (and hopefully arrested on felony terroristic threats charges).

Jesus. You threaten one lawyer with a bullet, and you get a restraining order? I thought this was America. Just more proof of how soft people are becoming.

Also, I've got dibs on her stuff
I left you the dried scrotums of both of my sons and a bonsai tree in my will.

Ah, the best kind.

Ah, the best kind.
He's also a train engineer. Which should give us all a comforting sense when encountering a train.

Four.

Years.

?
Yep. I withdrew from his case in 2018. He's been threatening to sue me ever since. I've just been saving up all the emails and never responding. The saved emails came in handy yesterday.

Jebus.

After a nice, relaxing weekend, I woke up yesterday to a former client having emailed me multiple times threatening to "put a bullet in my head", "someone should kill you", and "it's too bad because you have young kids".

So yesterday turned out to be a full day of filing a Harassment Restraining Order and dealing with police. Fun times.

If I wasn't certain of it before, that might be the final proverbial nail in the coffin for me getting out of this business when our lease is up next fall.
Aren't there other areas of law beside family law you could practice?

The good news is that even though he had no basis for a lawsuit against me to begin with, he probably took away the chance even the most nuts attorney would touch his proposed case. So maybe it saves me some time. Assuming I don't get off'ed in the meantime.

Any kind of law that would keep me interested would involve a lot of the same sorts of stuff. I could go push paper and be bored out of my mind somewhere, but also wouldn't offer me the flexibility I need with Mr. Kobe's job having zero flexibility.

Please don't get off'd

That's a very empathic email. I very much appreciate it.

At least I have something new to talk about in therapy tomorrow. So not a total waste.
