He did the right thing, helping her would have proven that since he was a born and raised Texan he is apart of the patriarchy and thinks it’s his role and responsibility to look after women thus treating them like second class citizens. This was a beautiful display of equity, she had the same opportunities to fall like a man. She was tested fairly. He has adapted well to white elite liberal life.
