Aaron Rodgers trade rumors

You know you are... :nod:

Denver, Pittsburgh and Tennessee were willing to give the Packers the ranch for Rodgers so your opinion is ridiculous.
No, they weren't. That's why the Packers are stuck with him. Sucks to be a Packer fan right about now, eh?

Bummer but not surprising.

lions/vikings and bears either way need to get better if their goal is SB, GB keeping rodgers doesn't impact that

I didn't really care either way

Nah. Keeping Rodgers means the Packers will continue to be NFC North favorites and in the playoff mix every year. I'm happy with that. The rest of the teams in the NFCN wish they had that realistic optimism.

$50 million a year for 4 years with somewhere in the vicinity of $150 mil guaranteed which will take him to 42+ years old? If reports are true and they franchise Adams (18 mil+) the will have committed 32% of their cap money to 2 players. That can't be good.

It really just shows how uncommitted AR is to the Packers. No team paying for one player like that has won shit. Look at the bargain contracts TB gave NE and look at the success they had. Not going to happen with the Rodgers Rate or the Patrick Price.

it was looking likely this past summer, but GB kissed Rodgers ass enough
I think it was all talk. I don’t know anyone that really thought it would happen. I never heard any local talking heads saying they truly thought it would happen either.

I am so ready to move on from this selfish bahstid.

Yeah. I agree. Cuts will need to be made in other areas for sure. That doesn't mean they're doomed, though. Some good drafting and shrewd free agent signings will keep them in Super Bowl contention.

Regarding Rodgers' age, given that he just won two straight league MVPs, there isn't much indication that he's on the cusp of breaking down physically or mentally yet. As a Packers fan, I'm proceeding with a cautiously optimistic approach to the whole situation.

It's damn tough to be a GM in the NFL. When you hit on players, you gotta pay em to keep em. In the Packers-Rodgers case, you can't just let the centerpiece of your whole team and legit superstar+MVP walk and expect to be okay; you're better off overpaying for him and hope you find some good players on cheaper contracts to supplement him. I don't blame the Packers for doing this. The dollars are going to be difficult to manage for the Packers until Rodgers retires, but I'd certainly rather have that than an nice clean cap situation and a bunch of 4-win seasons to show for it.

I'm not saying they're doomed. I realize that they play in a crap division and looking at their 2022 schedule;

they should win 13-14 games. What happens when they play real good teams in the playoffs?

Breaking news (per Tom Pelissero) on my sports talk radio has Russell Wilson going to the Broncos for a lot of picks and players. I'm curious to see if it's true and what the details are.
