Interest Decline in College Football?

there is no point for college football anymore. Players are free agents now and you might as well watch the NFL.
These players are not amateurs anymore. They are now selling their services.

Good take.

I will preface this by saying I am not an NFL fan, haven't been in quite some time...probably don't watch 6 games in a year...and those are mostly because I live in Tampa with a bunch of Bucs fans as friends and I'll watch at a party or whatever.

That being said, I was kind of drawn in by the playoff implications of some of the games last week and got sucked into watching 3 games I had no intention of watching, just because there was some drama.

College football could use some of that...manufactured or not.
I'm not an NFL wonk either. But I also found it interesting how many teams still had shots at the playoffs and how many games were significant...both in who got into the playoffs and the matchups. If Raider/Chargers tie it has an impact on others in the AFC. Indianapolis shits the bed against the lowly jags! Pittsburgs needs OT field goal. It definitely delivered on a lot of last game significance.

Can only speak for myself personally, but my interest in the sport has waned quite a bit in recent years. I used to park my butt on the couch and watch games all day long saturday. Now, i normally tune in to the Buckeyes and that's about it...1/2 the time I choose to fire golfing balls into various water hazards instead of catching the games live.

That's a silly game. Hit a ball, then go down to it and hit it again. Hell, at least in tennis there is a guy that hits it back to you.

That said, I play that silly game 3-4 times a week. I'm not real bright....and haven't been since I was six.

Players skipping Bowl games to prep for the NFL is the new reality.

Most times the game devolves into a race to finish X number of beers per round. I've gotten pretty efficient.

Golf is such a pretentious game. Either get fishing as your main weekend hobby or go fuck yournself

You have 2 Iowa games on your interesting list. Not interesting.

Fishing? In West Texas? It would be limited to stock tanks....if there is any water in them.
Robert Earl Keen is from Houston, but has that Lubbock sound that I love so much(seriously, a lot of my favorite music comes from west Texas with The Flatlanders, Delbert McClinton, Terry Allen, etc) and he has a song about catching a 5 pound bass.

My fandom for the sport isn’t what it used to be. I think I started losing interest prior to the 2019 season. Turning 25 definitely had something to do with it. Less idealism, better perspectives and all that.

And the other 120+ FBS teams need to quit picking their ass and start pulling their own weight ffs.

Too much domination from the top 4 or 5 schools. And yes that includes OSU

Don't worry, A&M is here to save the CFB world. You're welcome.

I do think expanded playoffs would help. Not saying it would change the result a ton but at least it gives others a "fighting chance" and interest.

It's too dependent on perfection. Perfection is great and all but it's college kids for chrissakes.

i used to have a little more passion for it. like i would be like na im not gonna meet up for a drink because there is a game on and its like 3-4 toledo vs 2-5 Akron

Last college football game I watched, Keith Jackson was a Sooner. And looked a man playing with kids.
