Spring game crowds. OU vs USC

Alleged rankings.

Yeah. OU's got fan excitement for a new coach.
Errbody pooring the Kool Aid.

Pelini had 80,149 in his first season (2008)
Frost had 86,818 in his first season (2018)
Even Mike Riley had 76,881 in his first season. (2015)

How'd those work out?

Frost is down to 54K now?
A (likely) new coach next year will probably get Nebraska back above 70K.

Alternate thread title: Things to do in Norman, OK versus things to do in LA.

But also in USC’s defense, I’m a diehard UGA fan and college football fan in general. I’ve never been to a spring game and have no intentions of ever going to one. It’s just a scrimmage. I also love baseball, but you’ll never see me at a spring training game

Yeah NBC wanted me to pay to watch ours as they only ran it on their Peacock + streaming. They can fuck right the hell off with that shit.
I didn’t even know UGA’s was happening until I checked Twitter after the fact. Didn’t even check the box score

They are useless and fans read way too much into them. Teams go light so they don’t get any unwanted injuries and they play vanilla schemes so you don’t give your opponents any advance film. At best they serve as a tailgate opportunity. I like what Freeman did though he had 300 former players on campus to network with the current players.

Love the analysis of spring game crowds.. reminds me of my fellow weigh-in heads when it comes to boxing

Wellll... They do have cocaine there... LOTS of it!! That would interest you - right? :heh:
Probably more expensive than it is here and probably has some faggy glitter or something mixed in with it over there

From everything I’ve read, there’s literally nothing in LA that remotely interests me.
You should broaden your horizons. There are so many fun things to do in LA, you could go there for months and not run out of things to do. Yeah, LA and SoCal have their problems, but it's a great place to live and visit if you have the money and means to enjoy it.

I think they are very important for new coaches trying to establish a culture, let the fans know what it is going to be like. That is why it was important for Freeman, Venable, etc. Sounds like both did what they needed to do. A half a dozen years in, or more, they are what you say. One other thing with the transfer portal, it is a time for some of the guys to get a read on where they are on the depth chart. At least that is the way it is at UGA ... we already had 2 move on, and I'll bet we get 2-3 more now that they have an idea where they are.

Cities don’t do anything for me. Hell, other than driving through on the interstate, I think I’ve only been to Atlanta twice since the Braves got smart and moved to the burbs. Both times were for concerts

Fair enough ... SoCal doesn't interest you because you don't like cities. That's a reflection on you (not saying good or bad), not LA. That's what you actually typed, so I can't disagree with you on that.

LA might be the city I’d least want to visit. Dodgers fans are all trash and I know where they come from

I can agree with some of this. I think Drew Pyne didn’t do himself any favors on Sat. and I think now more then ever it’s Buchner’s starting job to lose. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Pyne moves on.
