Saban takes a MASSIVE shot at Jimbo.

I didn't have to change the subject to take the jab. Take to a Nebraska thread, fine, I will die defending my team lol.

But these deflection whataboutisms are silly.

No kidding?! I can name 20 schools that would be willing to pony up $10 Million to sign a Top 5 class year in and year out. At $25 Million to $30 Million there are 3 schools. At $20 Million maybe 5 schools. But at $10 Million it's a pretty long list.

Think about it like this -- that ridiculous California bill they are trying to pass would pay the 11 worst scholarship players 8.8 million over 4 years.

To sign 18 of the top 100 with 8 five star recruits -- It has to be well north of $10 million. I'd wager it cost $10 million just to get Nolan and Stewart.

As you said though -- it is all speculation. A&M was smart by not pulling a Tennessee. But if the #3 QB gets 8 million. I'd bet many 5 star guys set a baseline number they would need to sign.

What's next? Recruits suing recruiting services because they aren't rated highly enough? Recruits paying off recruiting services to rate them higher?

And what's going to happen when a player has a season ending injury in the first game and the organization wants to back out of the deal, or the Coach benches his ass for another player who isn't getting much money.

This is the culture issues I have posted about. At the end of the day when your players only go there because they are the hired mercenary, the coach better be able to pull the culture together. Dumbo was not able to keep that going at FSU, I doubt he will at ATM.

The programs that will excel within the NIL era will be those that did before NIL. they will be able to spend enough money - even if not at the ATM level - but also have a culture and coaches that drew kids to their programs before NIL.

My aggie neighbor retired veterinarian said they were trying to gather up $18 million when they sent out the “all call”. He wasn’t sure if that was all for NIL or NIL plus some other things they were looking to help out with. He wouldn’t fess up about how much he forked over…but he’s not a BMD!

A dog with a note in his mouth could raise $10 Million every year at Oklahoma if that was the total price for recruiting classes that had seven 5* in them.

No doubt -- it is the wild, wild, west right now. It is laughable. Best case scenario for the NCAA is A&M flops, which is very likely and the guy given the monster deal from Tennessee is terrible. It will get these NIL collectives to slow down the spending.

This is my thinking; and I think it's more probable than not.

That would be the “normal” response. But you know oomy that the agnuts and rusty cows ain’t “normal” and will keep spending in hopes they catch that lightening in a bottle.

I'm waiting for:
1. Lawsuits when players fart a team off by transferring after they've received a lot of money.
2. Lawsuits when jealous players don't get equal treatment as the stars.
3. Lawsuits when the $$ doesn't come through after it's supposedly been promised.
4. IRS going after players who don't pay their taxes properly.

I’m on my phone and can’t figure out how to post it, but you guys have to see what the master SEC needler, The Old Ball Coach, has to say about this spat. (And don’t any of you technomerds give me shit about my technonological inabilities.)

basically saying Nick was telling the truth.. i take it Steve has no love for Jimbo. I've seen more people come out and begin to call the Jimbo PC a tantrum

He broke the SEC code. Nick skirted it. People interpreted his remarks as calling Jimbo a cheater. Jimbo was less circumspect, calling Saban a flat-out cheater.

Last time this happened a couple of programs ended up on probation.
