GAME #23 U$C @ #13 LSU 6:30c ABC

I read that he's catching a lot of heat for that. I don't see what he said that was so bad. He clearly put the blame on himself, stating several times that he has to do a better job.

I will say though, teams take on the personality of their HC and when he is undisciplined with his meltdowns and constantly yelling at the refs, etc. he shouldn't be surprised when his team is undisciplined.
What a GREAT win for the Trojans!

They were the better and more disciplined team last night and deserved to win. I loved seing the emotion on both sides (teams and fans) in this great game. The USC players kept that emotion in check, and it helped them win the game.

FWIW, Short yet GREAT All-Time series: I listened to the 1979 Game @ Tiger Stadium on the LSU Short Wave Radio Network, I attended the 1984 game @ the Coliseum, and I watched every play last night on TV (something I rarely do for any game).

Fight On!

For sure, USC still has a ways to go to fully be thought of as one of the nation's best, but I feel like that 2023 USC defense would've given up at least 35+ last night to LSU. The tackling was crisp and they played with confidence, which was the opposite of last year. Outside of Penn State, they likely won't have a huge test until ND at the end of the year, unless Nebraska actually has turned the corner.

Now the question will be if they can make up enough momentum to possibly flip back some of the big defensive prospects for the 2025 class that they lost.
We'll find out in the next few weeks just how good LSU is.

USC did get a schedule break missing both you guys and Oregon. And they have a bye before Michigan so that should help. But they made up for it by having LSU and Notre Dame OOC. (Only OOC that may be tougher than USC's is Florida with Miami, UCF and Florida State.) And if they rise in the rankings, they'll get other B1G teams' best shot.

They ain't.

I thought 9-3 would be their top at the beginning of the season, but more likely, 8-4. Looks like 9-3 is out and now 8-4 might be questionable. I think the D is a little better than last year, but that ain't saying much. Maybe by the 2nd half of the season, the new DC will have them playing better, which will go a long way from this being a dumpster load of a season. I guess the offense is ok. Tough to tell against USC. They ain't exactly a defense dynamo themselves.

If this was last years defense, you guys would have scored 35 minimum.

If this was last years defense, you guys would have scored 42 minimum.
Both teams have a 1st year DC, and it looks like some improvement being made. As the season goes on, we'll see how much more can be made.
