On one hand, I'm glad the weather doesn't look to be a factor or that it's not a night game at Voodoo. Road games at Kinnick still scare the shit out of me and your defense is very good, offensive woes be damned.

Last night, I got caught up watching/listening to Youtube podcasts (mostly Michigan fans) previewing this game. Here is what I think going after them.

The big key to the game is JJ McCarthy's comfort.

Iowa has a defense that cannot be exposed. You just have to do better. Every coach knows how to beat the defense, it is just a system that a Parker (Norm Parker before Phil Parker) have gotten them to execute. Michigan has the talent to beat Iowa's defense as well. If JJ McCarthy is comfortable in the pocket, he can make good throws and they can pick apart Iowa's defense.

However, he is inexperienced. He hasn't faced a defense near as good in an environment near as hostile. We learned in the game vs Maryland that he makes flaws when pressured. These flaws are ones that Iowa's defense love taking advantage. Like I said about Iowa's defense, it is a system where you have to beat.

McCarthy struggled with deep ball accuracy though he at least wasn't really forcing anything into coverage. Maryland did a good job with their zone coverage, but Michigan should have tried throwing underneath earlier than they did. We have the receivers to turn crossing routes into big gains. Oh well. This will be a big test for JJ.

I got dragged into a family picnic so I’m going to be watching this on my phone. Good news is that if things start going south I can just start drinking and fishing.

I am cheering for Meatchicken today. This feels odd.

This has the potential to be an entertaining game, I hope Michigan doesn’t blow Iowa away with speed

Comes down to Michigan's QB. So far, they have really been the only team to dominate Iowa's defense in recent years. They did it back in December.

Though UM beating Iowa does give me the hilarity of ranking Iowa over Michigan next week. So let the good times roll.

LOL, Fox has Big E on and were going to show a flashback to when he played for Iowa, and they showed a clip of Roman Reigns. Big E is like "Uh, that's Roman Reigns."

that was a weird game. Michigan had 7.4 yards per play but a good chunk of those yards came on the Corum/Wilson TDs. Haskins averaged 3.3 YPC and Corum only had four carries after the big run. Michigan didn't do much of anything after the first two scores until the 2nd half. I was pretty nervous going into the second half

I didn't think Iowa deserved to be in the B1GCG last season, even though they did win the West. I was actually mad that Minnesota beat Wisconsin. I figured Michigan would control Iowa, but wasn't expecting a blowout. I just saw it as a loss for Iowa.

Last season was a great example of Iowa falling from #2 ranking and was kind of disappointing at the end of the season, although Iowa really didn't have reason to be #2, except they did beat Penn State.

Should be a real test for Jim Hairball’s team.

Going against my gut and took the over, knowing full well if the over hits Iowa likely loses. Hedging my day...

Iowa's offense is going to have to work some voodoo magic today

This game as upset all over it. Michigan had some tough times with Maryland last week. Iowa at home and that defense. Man, watch out.
