Single Parents Ok GIF by ABC Network

I will watch it, but my expectations for it are almost sub sea level.

BTW, I think there were a series of these movies done in the 80s and 90s that were all supposed to be the same family, covering different holidays. They were different casts in each movie, and I think they were all either made for Tv or direct to video, but they do exist. I believe they were all based on books by the “narrator” telling true stories about his family life growing up in Cleveland(??) in the 40s and 50s.

I do fear that this will be like Coming2America. I had very low expectations going into that, and I loved the original. I still couldn’t make it 30 mins before I had to turn it off. And ultimately, that kinda detracts from the splendid ness of the original. While I totally expect this to suck, and am OK with a level of suck, I just hope it doesn’t suck so bad the suck overflows into the original.

I’m probably one of the few people who doesn’t particularly care for the original, so there’s about a 0% chance of me watching this one voluntarily.

There is some funny stuff with the Dad and Mom.

And I like when he curses and blames it on his friend, and then you can hear the Mom beating the shit out of the friend over the phone.

Are they going to play funny with time and have this movie take place in current times, or will they stay true to the time periods and have this one take place in the 80s/90s?

The latter, I believe. Let me find confirmation.

edit: here we go, this is where I read it

"The new movie will revolve around Ralphie bringing his own kids home for the holidays on Cleveland street in the 1970s."
