All Gas, No Brakes

Autozone is the dollar store version of a parts store

It really is.

Don't ever buy their batteries. They are the worst.

But it's not just their batteries, all their parts will never last as long as they claim. They then prorate your parts use and the warranty gives you some credit to purchase the same part.....which will most probably fail as soon as the previous one did.

So it appears to be their business model...you keep going back to the same chain to get some of the money you spent on a crappy part to replace it with another of this chain's crappy parts. They keep you coming in. Once you are there you will also probably buy other things you need for the repair you are trying to fix.

I had a set of Centerline Racing Wheels on my '68 C/10. Because of the way they are made it made my brakes heat up like crazy in heavy traffic. I got a flat one night while cruizin' and when I went to take the wheel off it was hot as fuck. Once I got the wheel off I noticed the brake drum was glowing hot. '68 C/10s had drum brakes all around.

I had to replace the brake pads soon after but didn't think much about it. But just a couple months later they where screeching. The pads where cooked and brittle and had began to break apart. I finally found out most people with that set of wheels suffered the same issues when installed over drum brakes. Apparently being solid with no open spaces for air to get behind the wheel it heated up like crazy. I replaced the rims with a set of aluminum slot rims and they actually looked better on the truck.
